Oh I feel so ashamed. I actually laughed out loud at John Dore's little skit.

lmao. Mistake on my part. I'm so used to saying "I hope America can get it right" from American Idol, lol. In this case, I hope CANADA can get it right.

I always like Jon. He seems natural with everything he does, especially with people during auditions. I think as a host, he wouldn't be as good, so it's good that Ben balances it out... somehow.

Finally Canada got it right! I'm so glad Daryl is gone (even though Aaron had no right to be in the bottom 2). Now all we need to do is get rid of Casey, which I doubt will happen next week since he appearance in the bottom 3 will have her fans voting like crazy. Can't wait for next weeks theme. Everyone is going to shine with rock night (except for Casey).

1. Suzi (perfect rock performance and vocals. I love Janis Joplin.)
2. Casey (Wow, wow, wow, wow. Just, wow. I knew Casey had something in her. Finally she showed it.)
3. Aaron (solid, true rock performance. Just awesome.)
4. Josh (it was okay... not bad)
5. Melissa (good performance, but not nearly as great as the judges were praising. Maybe it's because I know Carrie's performance of it very well, and Carrie did it reaaally well, so this was rather underwhelming).
6. Rex (meh...)

My biggest problems this year are the guys. Aaron is good, but I don't see him winning the competition. I don't think Rex has done too much to stand out, and his getting by on his legion of female fans. To be honest, his voice isn't a standout. And Josh is okay, but I think his little guitar thing at the end of the song, and his attitude towards the judges (not caring or listening to what they say) shows off his arrogance.
The girls are great. I've been rooting for Casey solely because she's close to hometown talent (well, Atlantic-wise, at least), but she gave a great performance finally! She earned her spot, I think. Suzi is great. I think Melissa does good, too. Maybe I just want to see a girl win more this year than a guy. I have a bad feeling about Rex winning, and I'll be upset if he does.

Good night. And an actual solid performance from Casey!
1. Melissa- Nowhere near the Carrie version, but excellent none the less
2. Suzi- She's made for this
3. Josh- I'm telling you, he keeps on getting better and better! No wailing and it was his best performance yet.
4. Aaron- It was good, nothing stand out about it.
5. Casey- It was good, but she still isn't close to the others
6. Rex- It was ok, but there was just something lacking there. Didn't like the song selection.
This is shaping up to be a pretty good season after a miserable start.

1. Suzi - HOT! It just fits her like a glove...wait *thinks for a more appropriate analogy*...like brass knuckles! I missed the "WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" at the end though.
2. Melissa - Great job. She seems unbelievably poised for a 17 year-old -- so much confidence. My one critique for her is that I don't really think she's found her niche in the competition yet. Let's just hope Canada doesn't have a lapse in judgment and sends her packing prematurely.
3. Rex - He seems totally uncontaminated by the whole competition aspect of the program. He just gets up and does his thing like a pro each week. However, despite a string of strong efforts, I keep waiting for him to really knock it out of the park.
4. Josh - Josh brings a certain inner spirit to all his performances that I really enjoy. Most of the time, however, I just can't picture him connecting with the audience. He's just a little too left of the middle for the show.
5. Casey - Finally the girl brought it! Her rendition of "I'll Stand By You" had its moments and if she gets cut tomorrow night, at least she can leave knowing she did a decent effort.
6. Aaron - Too cheesy for me. Aaron reminds me of that big jolly fat guy you see at local bars, who's always the first person to get up and do a little karaoke number to liven up the party. He's extremely good at it, but there's also a reason why he's singing in bars instead of on TV.
I have a feeling that Canada is really going to fuck things up tomorrow night. Josh, Suzi and Aaron will land in the bottom three, with Josh and Suzi in the bottom two, and Josh getting the pink slip. Anyone else care to wager?

Yeah, it seems like perfect time for a controversial vote-off. When Ben separates the group into two sets of three, expect a shocker.

Yeah, but I've always voted for her so many times, but she's been in the bottom 3 two or three times (can't remember which), so...
and she went first this week, which is never good.

Stand back, it's HURRICANE SEASON!
oops, wrong thread .
But I'll lay the smack down on Rex and Josh anyway. This is a singing competition. Rex and Josh cannot sing. The end. I find it funny that these two, along with Suzi to a lesser extent, are supposed to be so at home with the rock, when really they deliver their worst performances in that genre. I don't know how you can say Josh had no wailing in his song tonight, I thought he was more overboard than usual. Suzi was so up and down with her performance. There were little moments here and there where she was so on and then others where it was kind of off. Pretty good for her overall though and miles ahead of Rex and Josh.
Melissa did the best tonight, though it was nowhere near Carrie's brilliant rendition from AI4. Casey seems to have finally hushed the doubters for the time being, delivering a very nice vocal and probably her best job of showing emotion. Aaron is starting to grate with me, but his was still quite a solid effort and I would have him as interchangeable with Suzi in third.
I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them in the bottom 3 and any of the them go home. It will most likely be Casey, Josh and Aaron, with Josh mercifully getting booted. Casey has a very good chance of going, since she gave her best performance and that's the way things tend to go sometimes.

I don't mean to rude Benny, but what's your beef with Rex? He's clearly one of the front-runners to win, the judges like him, and he elicites more screams than anyone left on the show. Saying that he "can't sing" in such a matter-of-fact way seems kinda ignorant.

I do mean to be rude when discussing anything to do with Rex, that's for sure.
Frontrunners to win - yes
judges like him - yes
elicits most screams - yes
All of this doesn't make him a good singer. It's pretty obvious he gets all the attention because of his looks, his earnest charms and his physicality on stage. All he has to do after that is open his mouth and people are sold. The dude is objectively not a good singer. He fumbles around with pitch and strains for easy notes, it's truly embarrasing. Hell, the judges (at least Zach) will admit as much, but think that since he's a "rocker" it's okay to sing like shit. They're full of it.

I agree. I hate it that rockers get away with being able to singer poorly, because all they have to do is "rock" to be successful. It's stupid.

Rex sucks. He's got the looks, which is all most of the girls need who watch Canadian Idol.
And I hate people that make rhymes with their names. In this case, he has two rhyming nicknames (Sexy Rexy, Rowdy Goudie). Makes me want to pull my hair out.

Agreed, pretty much all the rockers (Suzi, Rex, Josh) can get away with some bad notes, but if say Aaron or Casey make a mistake, the judges (especially Sass and Zach) are quick to point it out.
And does anyone else think that Sass Jordan is about to pop a Janet Jackson? Cut out the cleavage woman! Your over 40!

I've always thought his pitch was fine, plus he's got a nice tone. He's not the best, but he is definately not the worst.

I'm not too heart broken that Josh is out. He was ok. But Suzi in the bottom 2? Canada, you are crazy. God I hope the Casey is out next week!
