A tough one to grade...
On one hand, the film is a clever and masterful modern, Indian-inspired retelling of the Jane Austen classic. The music and corresponding choreography is nothing short of spectacular. The costume designs, and scenery are also well-done and some scenes are simply masterfully put together.
On the other hand, once the narrative leaves its native India, the pacing drags and some scenes are almost silly in their execution. Because of that, the film falls short of what would be expected after the opening few moments.
Overall, a solid B, though the film is certainly not for everyone.

Cause you know, not everyone is into Indian drag queens...
I actually enjoyed the movie more than you, very silly, sweet fun... and I do agree that the departure of the story from India seemed to last for an eternity. Moneygrubbing Mrs. Bakshi (the mom) and Mr. Kholi (the greasy Mr. Collins' Indian equivalent) are a hoot to watch though. It's also nice to see Marsha Mason and Alexis Bledel in their small roles.
I gave this movie a B+ (it would have been higher if not for Ashanti, lol, dumb woman)

That was Ashanti? Geez, I didn't even recognize half of the performers. Of course I wasn't paying attention either.

The movie was enjoyable to watch but the musical numbers were occasionally cheesy. Aishwaryia (sp?) Rai is stunning and gives a good performance, and nice to see a cameo from Alexis Bledel.

 Re: Bride and Prejudice
B-It's a decent film and I was mildly entertaining all throughout. It was a rather weird mixture of Bollywood singing and dancing (most of it in English, though) and an adaptation of Jane Austen's famous novel. Took time to get used to it, but was well entertaining after a while. The leads didn't have any chemistry sadly and I think that Aishwaryia Rai was way too glamurous for the role that she was supposed to be playing (BTW: apparently she gained 20 lbs for the role...how skinny is she otherwise?!). Martin Henderson was bland. The dancing/singing sequences were surprisingly fun (considering I am generally not a bOllywood fan) and there were one or two even memorable ones. Besides, who doesn't want to see Naveen Andrews (Lost's Sayid) during a Bollywood dance?

Yeah, it was cute, fun and enjoyable. The songs are really cheesy, but I think that adds to its charm.
