The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - 2 / 5. Just disappointed. I expected a much funnier and better film, despite the great animations by Henry Selick. Hopefully Wes Anderson strikes back again with his next feature. This was a far cry from his good previous films. Acting by Murray, Dafoe en Blanchett was superb.

Les Daltons - 0 / 5. Both French Asterix live-action films were highly entertaining and great made films. Based on the Lucky Luke characters, 'Les Daltons' is a miserable failure. The comedy misses talent, jokes, in-jokes, funny characters, everything. I'm glad that this one doesn't get a raped and dubbed version released in the U.S. Probably Terence Hill's 'Lucky Luke' is much and much better and funnier.
EDIT: I'm a fan of the comics...

Banlieu 13 - 0 / 5 . What the hell is Luc Besson doing with his career? Once a brilliant and gifted French filmmaker, but somewhere between the worldwide smash 'The Fifth Element' and the financial flop 'The Messenger' he lost his golden touch. With some exceptions, he followed a different path. The path of producing poor and simple action movies, like 'Taxi 2 & 3'(the first one was great), 'Yamakasi', 'Wasabi'(Jean Reno saved the movie), 'Michel Valiant' and many others, including a couple of Jet Li flicks. Now he produced the god-awful 'Banlieu 13', a highly unoriginal action movie, that falls flat after an highly exciting opening into simple executed action and boring dialogue and character development.

However, the French still can do it with the 'L'auberge espagnole' sequel: 'Les poupées russes'.

War of the Worlds - A+

Amazing! Knocks 'Mr and Mrs Smith' off the Top spot fro the year!!!

Once again, a Tom Cruise film is my favourite film of the year!! I thought it rocked. The effects didnt appear to be effects which is ace! All the scenes were well executed. Dakota Fanning is SUPERB! Cruise has a better role than most of his other movies, SIMPLY FUCKING BRILLIANT!

WILL DEFO BE BUYING! ALSO BE SEEING AGAIN AT THE CINEMA! I cannot stop thinking about it. Tom Cruise definately secures 2nd place in my favourite actors list, it was undecided before i saw this film, between Brad Pitt/Clooney/Gibson/Cruise, but its definately made everything clearer, shows he can play different type of person too, which is amazing.

Infact, it reminded me of how he played his character in Rain Man, very abrupt to begin with but eases off toward the end learning a life lesson etc.

I'd only saw Dakota Fanning in Man on Fire and Cat in the Hat, so i thought she acted way beyond her years, which of course kids dont act like in real life. However seeing this film, it really showed how good she is....now i understand that her characters in the other films required to act that way that i "didnt like".....but she was sensational in WOTW!

Also, to me, it did not have an abrupt ending. The invasion seemed a little unplanned from the Mars Aliens, but thats there fault.

I loved how Tom Cruise was the hero dad in the end; Axeing that retractable head thing and grenading that machine thing, showing the pins when he came out of there was superb!!!

The Alien ship thing falling into that warehouse building after being rocket launched at was tremendous!

This movie was good for a Cruise film. It had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I like the story and I liked how it kept moving. The ending is stupid and corny but the mnovie is great and boy oh boy can that girl scream!

Hide and Seek
This movie manage to suprise me with the ending which is rare. I liked it alot and I loved the whole twistedness of the movie.

Machinist (spl)
First off holy hell Bale are you trying to kill yourself? god he was so freaken skinny!
I like the movie it reminded me alot of Momento.

True Lies A/A+

This is Arnold's best movie and probably one of my favorite action movies of all-time. Lots of action and humour. And Jamie Lee Curtis! Wow.

Bewitched: C-, borderline D+
The first half was promising (light laughs, charming, B- range), but as soon as the two go on the date about mid-way through the film, it just starts sucking. Hard. Characters running around doing silly, cutesy things is fine, as long as it's funny. Here? Not so much. Not so much at all. And I don't know if this is just me, but Will Ferrell becoming ubiquitous (as practically every critic has penned him as) just isn't working for me. Steve Carell, too. Ah, goodness. This thing just sucked.

Hide and Seek - C-

Dakota Fanning is excellent (as usual...) in this. She has amazing potential. De Niro is also good. But the whole movie is so pretentious that in the end, you just don't really care.

Alfie - C

As the movie ended, I felt... well nothing. I felt the film was rather bland. Though, I did feel Jude Law was quite good.

Crash - A

Best film of the year so far. An extremely impressive ensemble cast. Thandi Newton and Matt Dillion surprised me the most since I haven't seen pretty much all of their work.

RORY O'SHEA WAS HERE - 7/10 (B-)
I thought the film was great up to a certain point, then it just didn't work anymore. Too bad, I had high hopes for this one.

FOULPROOF - 4/10 (D+)
Oh my god, what the hell was this? Just one of the nine movies my friend brought over. The only reason I watched it was because of Ryan Reynolds.

SNAKE IN THE EAGLE'S SHADOW - 7/10 (B-)
I liked it for what it was worth. I never really saw a real Chinese Kung Fu film (unless you count KUNG FU HUSTLE). I thought it was absolutely hilarious but got a bit boring at the end.

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN (A-)

A brilliant film, and just behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as my favorite movie of 2004.

Glad you liked it, if you've never seen it before anyways. I think it's the best POTTER film.

I'm not a fan of chick flicks, but this movie was just so good. Reese Witherspoon is awesome here. Too bad the sequel sucked.

I was expecting lots of blood and violence. Instead recieved an awesome film experience that almost kept me hooked the entire time even though it took more than 2 days to watch it

Overnight: A-
This overlooked and surprisingly fantastic documentary (released last year) chronicles the rise and fall (by rise, I mean, like, a couple days) of Troy Duffy, author of The Boondock Saints (a film I haven't seen but now would love to) and all around sleezebag. Despite Duffy's unforgiving... sleezebagginess and prolific use of the word "cocksucker," the movie - filmed in neither a pretentious nor overly amateurish manner that often plagues small documentaries - is pretty fascinating, both as a piece of off-putting yet intirguing entertainment and as a study of arrogant behavior and its effects on others. Great film.

I also recently watched Network, which I thought was brilliant but felt occasionally overly written (one too many gruff, loud monologues). Great, distinct direction, though. Liked it a lot.

Manic-8/10 or B+/B

Not a very original movie and it's screenplay isn't immaculate, but it's honesty, unflinching eye and incredibly good acting keeps it well above the surface.

Pink Flamingos-?/10
