But my resistance was worn down. I still think the zombies rate of shuffling varied too much. And I don't understand the physics of zombie intelligence or instinct.
But any film that makes me want more is alright by me. I thought it was kind of odd at first, but then I watched the original Dawn of the Dead last night. I for some reason forgot about the part where it's explained that the zombies kept coming back to the mall because of instinct, they had been there before. The zombies in this film were just doing the same thing (Even with the guns). They haven't necessairly progressed. i agree. they really haven't gotten "smarter", we're just seeing them remember things more and more from their regular lives out of instinct as they interact with their environments. I think your logic is somewhat flawed. It's not as if a normal gas station attendant would have any previous memories of handling firearms or organizing a militia. They've progressed, they've gotten smarter. I agree it's easier to say it's instinct because it explains away any issues of logic. But the walking dead isn't logical anyway.
yeah logic is pretty much thrown out the window in zombie flicks

I agree. I think it sounds more professional when the call it GEORGE A. ROMERO'S LAND OF THE DEAD but I wouldn't care if it was just LAND OF THE DEAD.

The problem with Land of the Dead is it's a bit general. People think "Oh, zombie movie". And, then there's the argument that people thought this was a sequel to Uwe Boll's House of the Dead. But, it's ultimately George A. Romero's work, and it more or less hooks the crowd that loves his movies, but may not have known about the movie unless it had his name there.
Edit: Talking about the title here, not the movie itself, which I have yet to see.

Land of the Dead is super freakin' fantastic!!!
I'm not kidding! From the opening titles to the closing scene, this is a brand new masterpiece of allegorical storytelling. It will most certainly be a future classic cult movie revered by fans for all eternity. And it's surely the first zombie movie, where the viewer can truly root for the Dead...
The actors are uniformly great, from the "headliners" - Leguizamo & Hopper (!) - to the unknown "leads" - to the zombie "protagonists"! Yee Haw! ! ! Giddyup! ! ! ! !
George Romero's reputation joins the undead in a celebration of a horrifically satirical portrayal of our 'modern' civilization!
A must see for anyone who doubts our glorious future...
5 out of 5. (A+)

This was a decent flick. I didn't really find anything spectacular or terrible about it. Glad I saw it of course, but just an okay film.

LAND OF THE DEAD - 5/10 (C-)
Sure, it wasn't a good movie by any means but it was fun ... sorta. It was really gory so that was a plus. Oh well, didn't think I'd like it very much anyways. I might raise it a point if I see it again.

Somewhat dissapointed. It wasn't nearly as good as Dawn of the Dead, but it did live up to Romero's name. Overall, a fun zombie movie. Hell of a lot of blood, that's for sure. Hardcore gore from beginning to end. At first, I was a little ticked off by the "smart zombies" (like Big Daddy, pumping gasoline...), but as the movie progressed, I didn't mind as much. It's never a good idea to have smart zombies, though. Especially when they're kinda smart at first, and somehow gain a lot more intellegence within a 93 minute running time. In terms of scariness, it didn't deliver as much. There were some nice moments, but they frightened the girl behind me a lot more than they did for me. The action scenes are fantastic, though. Lots of great scenes of explosions, added with tons of gore = sweet. I had fun, though. B+

ok...and saw cost about $1.5 million to make, and cabin fever cost $1 million to make. $15 million dollar budget is NOT cheap for a horror movie.

But I never said I didn't like it because of the budget.

I just wanted something great. A lot of people who saw this are satisfied with it being average. It didn't feel rushed to you?

I didn't say I didn't like it because of the budget either. I didn't like it because YOU COULD TELL it had a low budget.
