Thats already 20m in the bank. If it makes 250m he'll have a good 50m.

Profits, not gross.

BOM's are in. Just like Friday, Batman's estimate is a whole lot lower.

Sheesh, the discrepancy just keeps on going...

If BOM numbers are the true numbers, which they most likely are, we've got a much lower weekend than with showbizdata or other numbers.

PEACE, Mike ;)

Er no. SBD and BOMs saturday increase for Batman is almost identical. 24.59% from SBD and 24.6% increase from BOM. Same case for the rest of the movies. BOMs and SBD saturday increases are around 1% within each other. Its just the Different Friday #'s thats causing the confusion.

With 2.82M on Friday and 2.99 on Saturday, studio is basically projecting a 10% increase on Sunday to get to BOM's 9.034M weekend estimate. It's possible, but something just doesn't sound right to me, whether it's BOM, showbiz, or anything else. Like Zing, I'll just wait for the real estimates tomorrow.

With the incredibly small Saturday increases, both from BOM and showbizdata numbers, I wouldn't be surprised if the sunday has increases for family oriented films, and very small declines for other films. Or perhaps all films have small increases. Who knows. We don't have any history to determine what happens on this sunday. All I know is that the Saturday increases are very small, and the sunday will be inflated because of the holiday monday. So combine those two reasonings, and who knows what sunday will bring.

PEACE, Mike ;)

I think that it will have small decreases/increases on sunday and 15-20% drops on Monday.

I guess we have to wait tomorrow to see the actuals and how the pattern went.

The Saturday increase is low for all movies which is normal for a Saturday during the 4th of July weekend.

acually this is kind of abnormal, back in 94 the films acually experienced better saturday increases than they did the wknd before over the 4th of July wknd :???: kind of weird considering the films were all so affected by WOTW :???:

Aherm, Live 8
Over 2 billion people stayed in to watch it. A sizable amount - likely Americans.

Funnily enough the sun trusted a news reporters mistake to print that 5 BILLION PEOPLE WATCHED IT, which is of course bollocks.
It reached 5 billion viewers, and roughly half of them watched it.

 holly cow, whee was this taking place at, and why have I never hurd about till today

You're not alone. I don't know what it is either so it couldn't have been THAT big...

I saw a little bit of it on TV yesterday but I don't think it had any effect on the box office here in the US. I can't think of anyone who would sit inside the house for eight hours straight to watch a concert. I mean if people planned on a seeing a movie yesterday, the concert was on all day so it wasn't like they were going to the show if they a 2 hr movie.

Same here and I saw like a 1/2 hour of this and thought it blew.. Too much talk from the announcers and not enough focus on the acts athand.. Anyone see the PINK FLOYD Reunion and if so, how was it?? In the meantime, BATMAN got clobbered by WOTW Big time for Saturday.. Congratulations Spielberg!! Doesn't look like this movie is getting any bad WOM like some thought it would and was nothing more than an internet nitpicky thing to begin with with overanalyzing the ending....
