Copland - A+

Obviously i've always loved this film, but last night i watched the Director's Cut and it was truely amazing!!!!!!! And also being a little bit older since i watched it before i can appreciate the acting in it. Definately in my top 10.

Sure, it wasn't a good movie by any means but it was fun ... sorta. It was really gory so that was a plus. Oh well, didn't think I'd like it very much anyways.

BATMAN BEGINS - 8/10 (A-)
LOVED IT!!!! I can't believe it but I just loved the hell out of this one. The acting was amazing, the story was much better than your usual BATMAN film. I'm so in love with Katie Holmes right now (I'm letting the whole Tom Cruise thing not get to me). I'll definetely check this out out again soon!

War of the Worlds - A (Even I can't believe it... Wow.)

WHITE NOISE - C+-
Had its' moments, wasn't terrible, and Keaton is one of those actors who's fun to watch on screen--but the complete product was underwhelming. I think I've seen this movie before and it was called "Final Destination."

WAR OF THE WORLDS - 5/10 (C-)
I didn't think it was a terrible film but I didn't think it was a good film either. I loved the first half of it, I thought that was great. Then when Tim Robbins came into the picture, I thought it got really stupid and boring. The aliens looked like shit too, the acting wasn't good at all, spare for Dakota and the guy. It was a fun time waster, not something I'd watch again. I say THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW is the better disaster movie, though I gave them the same rating.

MR. AND MRS. SMITH - 9/10 (A-)
I loved this in every way possible! It was fun, absolutely hilarious, sexy and the acting was top notch! I was surprised at how funny the film was. Definetely one of the best of the year.

and watched Close Encounters for the first time and I didn't even finished. I got too bored.

Diary of a Mad Black Woman: C+
Despite the film's often gaping disparity and lack of focus (it cycles through drama to comedy to odd revenge farce to tale of urban empowerment, female empowerment, Christian morality, Big Momma's House, etc.), in its own weird little way, it kind of works. Tyler Perry's array of characters don't really serve any other purpose than to cater to his fans and provide comic relief, and the script is riddled with cliches and ridiculous moments (it's obvious portions have been taken from stage productions), but like the film itself, the characters and odd moments end up somewhat enjoyable. Somewhat. The acting is also peculiarly good, especially Kimberly Elise, who I'm surprised hasn't been singled out more for her pretty great work here.

In the Realms of the Unreal: B
The film thoroughly and, at times, quite brilliantly delves into the work of Henry Darger, a recluse who spent years of his life working on faux artistry and a 15,000 page novel detailing a futuristic battle between secular and Christian forces. But while the camera pores over and animates his work, Darger himself gets lost in the mix. We get his backstory, the tales of his neighbors, childhood friends, etc., yet with such a strong focus on the work itself, Darger remains somewhat unexplored, especially in relation to the influences of the novel itself. An interesting watch, though (especially if you're interested in young, bright, hermaphrodite-like female angels!).

THE JACKET - 10/10 (A+)
I really want to know why so many people hated this film so much. I loved the story and while it is a bit like DONNIE DARKO, which is probably why it's compared to it so much, I liked it much more. To me, DONNIE DARKO was okay but it was overrated. The performances were fantastic, Keira Knightley especially surprised the hell out of me. Sure, she wasn't in the film that much but she was a crucial part in the film. I never thought she was that great of an actress but I thought she was fantastic. I'm really happy I blind bought THE JACKET, I thought it was a great film, the best film of the year thus far and everyone should give it a chance.

WOTW-A Tied with BB for best of the year.

An excellent dramatic thriller that was actually very interesting and intriguing. Keira Knightley is great here and pulls off an American accent with ease. Adrien Brody also does an excellent job. Overall, I enjoyed this more than THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT and MEMENTO and highly recommend it.

The Big Easy - B-

A little-known romantic mystery from the 80's starring Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin. The chemistry between the two is smokin', and the film is never boring, but the Cajun accents really bugged me (as well as the music), and the 'mystery' is easy enough to solve. Overall, a decent murder mystery, and an above average romance.

Excellent music. Tom Cruise was superb, Hoffman tried so damn hard, it was amazing. i saw it years ago, but didn't remember it to be this good. Will be buying!

Gunner Palace: C
Despite the directors' best intentions of showing the true, unfiltered ongoings in the lives of American soldiers in Iraq, the film is surprisingly dull, relying on evenhandedness and a preachy narration as its source of interest rather than actual introspection. A disappointment.

The Jacket - B+

I liked it a lot. Adrien Brody was pretty good in this (still need to see The Pianist...) and though Knightley's performance isn't fantastic I didn't have a major problem with it. I felt the ending was executed very well. My only problem was that the relationship between Jack and Jackie seemed under developed. Overall, very solid.

The Assassination of Richard Nixon - B+

Very gripping and haunting character study. Sean Penn is... wow. He's a terrific actor. I felt that some of the others credited in the film (especially Watts and Cheadle) were very underused, though I'm not that upset since their characters probaly didn't have much else to do.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's easily the best film of the year!

UNFAITHFUL - 10/10 (A+)
It's been almost a year since I saw this one and when I first saw it, I thought it was good but not great. Now I'm much more mature and I love this film. Diane Lane is absolutely stunning in the film, her acting is amazing and she is beautiful. Richard Gere was equally amazing. I'm glad that Diane Lane was nominated for an Oscar, even though she didn't win. The story isn't the greatest thing in the world but what happens with the story is just great. I also need to say that this movie has some of the hottest sex scenes I've ever seen on screen

Sin City - A+

A amazingly visual film. Though some of the performances were a bit wooden, the three male leads were all superb, as well as the supporting charactes. The dialogue was incredible, there was no cliched lines or wincing moments. But all of that pales in comparison to the amazing visuals. Simply stunning. Plus lots of action and violence - perfect!
