At first, I read it the same way as xiayun did and was ready to disagree already. But then I saw that it wasn't putting down the others. Just a misunderstanding. An easy one, however...

I don't normally overreact to what was said to me, or at least not without thinking through. My peers acknowledged that recently, and I'm grateful for it. However, one thing that tends to get on my nerve is when people don't respect my ability or how much work I put into to excel at something. Box office prediction doesn't bring me fame or money; it's just a hobby that I enjoy, and for things I enjoy doing, I take it seriously and will dedicate myself to spend a lot of time and energy to do it well. There are two types of predictions. One is to claim a movie will achieve a certain number, whether it's the opening or overall gross or both, well ahead of the time. That takes talent, research, and foresight, and I very much applaud people for getting those right. It's something I haven't focused on. Instead, I try to master the ability in using all the available resources, along with own research and instinct, and come up with the best top 10 predictions before the last feasible moment. That's also an art by itself. After all, all the information is public resource, but only one can come out on top. That's what Ragnarok does best. BOG's prediction, WW's, Casey's, Scott's, as long as they're available before the deadline, everybody can use them. It's how the information is processed that separates players, and that takes effort, insight, and tons of analysis.

I don't think this will gross $60M OW.

But my 4 and 1/2 year old daughter is upset that I haven't taken her to Tastic 4 (as she calls it). Generally the movies she likes have been major hits.

Another great marketing move, was to get the video game to start heavily advertising. It's advertising like it's a movie itself.

After the dark and brooding blockbusters like Sith, Batman Begins and War of the Worlds, the masses, and especially the kids, who didn't exactly get a gem with Madagascar, will be lining up for this one. People need fun on their summer movie menu. I fully expect this to draw big crowds. There is still time to sign up.

If this were the $50 million club, I'd have more of a motivation to join. I think the film is looking good for a $45-50 million weekend, which is still really good for this type of film. I don't think it has the strength to get to $60 million. I think a good comparison is Van Helsing, which made $51 million and was frontloaded. But I don't think it's a completely outrageous prediction. It's one that I think is plausible, just really, really not likely. So all the power to those who join this club and think it will. Kudos if you're all right.

I also would be a member of the 45-50 mill club. But Mav likes to make it extreme. I guess the 45 mill club would have too many members.

70-75 million may be a little extreme, but not 60 million, especially for a summer movie like this. It's still not too late to reconsider.

For me, it depends on how well WOTW keeps up next weekend. But I think this has a lot of potential. I see atleast 45m. But 60m I think is pushing it. but could be possible.

I'll throw $15 toward the gross next weekend, which just may put it a hair over $60million. I think it'll be close, but it should do it. I say it'll hit $60,000,014.00

Of course, I'm always wrong about these things, so I might just have jinxed it.

The Marketing for this has been FANTASTIC so I wouldn't worry about this opening to less than 50 Million.. If HULK could open to 62 Million from Friday to Sunday, then I question anyone why this movie couldn't do it?? FF4 is probably 1 of the highest MARVEL Comic characters next to SPIDERMAN and The HULK.. I look forward to this biting the folks in the ass at CHUD and RT and here at KJ for that matter..

I have a final prediction. I just don't think there is enough interest to open in the 60's. I guess it wouldn't surprise me if it did, but I still think it will open with about 45-50 mill. So I will say that it will open with:

I doubt they'll be getting a gem with Fantastic Four either. But not like that matters for the opening weekend...

I agree, the marketing for this film has been terrific. I also agree about the fun aspect. Like Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
