Friggin' hilarious movie. David Spade rocks. Are you joking me? No joke, BTTF. No joke!
Zingy, Joe Dirt? An abomination. I'm mystified as to how you could've thought that was funny.
Blehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. What do I know.

Also recently watched 12 Angry Men for the first time (though I did see the TV remake a few years ago). Loved it.

Catwoman - C-
Not bad enough to be really fun, but not a good movie. Why can Catwoman do things even cats can't do? Why must the plotline revolve around cosmetics that are so dangerous they destroy your face but not actually kill anyone? Was Berry so desperate for a blockbuster franchise she chose to do this? Why is Sharon Stone still working? *Sigh*
On the plus side, once she becomes Catwoman, Berry isn't that bad. And she looks great in that first costume.

Terrific. I haven't seen this in more than a year and I forgot how excellent the whole cast was and Natalie Portman's fantastic cameo.

There's barely any difference, but still, this is just one fun, entertaining horror flick.

Batman Begins - A
without a doubt the batman we were needing, anyway i'm still confused with the all remake of the franchise thing, its pretty wierd to have 2 brilliant Burton movies and now the begining again .
i guess they needed to refresh the whole dc comics thing. Good work!

Cursed:
This movie was a jumbled mess. There seems to be something good somewhere in there at a few off moments, but...
The only moment of suspense was the parking garage scene.
It just doesn't pan out. Riccis hair changing in different scenes (due to reshoots) was laughable as well. I only really saw about an hour of this as I fast forwarded several time during boring parts.
Such a shame as this should have been so much better. Ricci is wasted.

Too much of the been there, done that feeling. The movie also drags at certain moments. However, there are a few moments of suspense and emotion.

Very well made. My only gripe with the film is that I felt none of the characters were developed well enough... Hm, I may need to watch this again.

Awesome! I saw it in theaters opening night and I thought it was a freakin' blast! One of the most underrated of the year. It was fun, fun, fun!
Monday I watched:
Ellen: Season 1/Disc 1 (eps. 1-6) - 7/10 ( B )
Tuesday morning:
Hitch - 7/10 (B-)
A "good" movie but not great and easily the most overrated movie I've seen of 2005 so far. Will Smith isn't that great and the first 40 minutes of the movie were pretty poor. But the rest got better thanks to Kevin James. He stole the show. I was way more interested in him and his romance than Smith's romance. So Kevin James and the end dance sequence are the best things about the movie. I also must say that the DVD quality of this movie SUCKS! Unless it was really that grainy in theaters.
Tuesday evening/Monday morning:
Footballers Wives: Season 1/Disc 2 - 7/10 (B-)
This was almost a B since it was certainly better than the first disc, but ultimately I decided to go with a B-.
Wednesday night:
24: Season 1/Disc 6 - 8/10 (A-)
The first couple of episodes on this disc weren't the best, but the finale was great! It was shocking! I was disappointed someone I really liked ended up bad. And it's too bad someone else had to die, especially before they got to see their daughter.

A DIRTY SHAME - 6/10 (B-)
I thought the first half of it was really funny but then after that it got really stupid. I doubt I'd ever watch it again, it was a fun movie for what it was though.

9 SONGS - 3/10 (D-)
I know I gave this one a bad rating but let me say, I didn't not like it. It didn't do what it should have done, the plot was there! It had a great plot, they just didn't use it. The beginning of the film was amazing, I loved the talking scenes. The music scenes were awful and the sex scenes weren't that great but there were two that were good, the sex in the bath tub, which was just filmed beautifully and the music was great and the blow job scene. The guy was really hot too, the girl was kind of cute in an odd sort of way. I'm sure I'd watch 9 SONGS again sometime down the road, I wouldn't really count this as a final rating because like I said, I didn't hate the movie, I just ... thought a lot of it was boring and it shouldn't have been. It was way too slow for a movie which is only 63 minutes in length.

The first half was great, but the second half brings the movie down. Still, a decent film overall.

Mean Creek: B+
Unsettling and atmospheric but a bit pedestrian in its attempts at delving into teenage angst. The quiet moments are beautifully shot and were an excellent choice over dialogue-driven scenes that might have meandered even further into cliched territory, but they also seem to lack a sense of dramatic intensity: I was more concerned with what was going to happen to these kids after the actual incident than I was with their conflicted feelings, and I doubt that was the director's aim. The acting, though, is fantastic (Rory Culkin is amazing), with the exception of the little girl, who plays her scenes very Dakota Fanning-y with her matured woman mannerisms, dialogue, etc. A nice, well-done film, though.

Batman Begins - A+
A terrific film. Not only is it the best Batman film, easily besting Burton's two dark, stylish ones, but it's one of the best films in recent memory. The story is very well-told, the acting is spot-on and excellent all-around, the action scenes are very cool, and the set design is amazing. Instead of the campy-ness of the previous films, this one is very dark and serious - Batman lurks in the shadows, instead of strolling around with the cops. Christian Bale was quite good, and I liked how he distinguished his voice between Bruce Wayne and Batman. Caine and Freeman were both very good, but it was Oldman and Neeson who really stood out. In fact, there were no weak spots in this cast, not even Katie Holmes, with whom I was pleasantly surprised. She was actually decent. Quite an unbelievable film, and possibly the best comic-book film ever - it's between this and X2.

HOSTAGE - 8/10 (B+)
If you don't take the film too seriously, you should be able to enjoy it. It was a really fun movie and bits of it are very insense and emotional. Bruce Willis hands out a great performance as well. Definetely recommended if you want to watch a fun thriller.

AWESOME! I saw it the week it hit DVD and I f-ing LOVED it! Only movie of 2005 I'd give a perfect rating to and yes, that means it's my #1 of 2005! Amazing cinematography, acting, directing, soundtrack, etc... Just all around freakin' GREAT! More people need to see it. The trailer being in front of THE MACHINIST on the DVD should help get more to check it out if they hadn't yet. Man do I love that film! So damn terrific! I never expected to love it so much. I thought it would be great, like an 8/10 (B+) or something, but not my #1 of 2005.
