It's my favorite of the series, and Michelle Pfeiffer is brilliant as Catwoman. This movie is very underrated, and much better than the original.

Loved Pfieffer as Catwoman, but hated the Penguin. Burton varied a little too far from the original Penguin. It's still my second favorite in the Batman series, mainly due to Catwoman. I grade it an A-.

I just watched it on ABC Family, so I must review it again.

Awesome movie! I thought it was much better than the original. The visuals were better, the action sequences were much better, and the villians was much more interesting. The Penguin wasn't as great as The Joker, but I thought Danny DeVito did a splendid job. The real standout for me was Michelle Pfeiffer, she was literally born to play this role, and she does it brilliantly. After the ending of this sequel I was hoping Catwoman would return, but sadly she didn't. That is until the disastrous Halle Berry version hit theaters, and totally disgraced the comic book character, and everything she stood for.

I thought the film itself was pretty weak and didn't live up to the original film, but Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman is one of the sexiest female characters I've seen in a movie, I think.

I have really never seen a film that is worse than this. There is one improbable situation after another and nothing is thought out to make any sense. It looked to me like the makers of this film figured that they had a gold mine on their hands and because the first made a ton of money, they could make a quickie film that has no concern for detail, plot, characterization, direction, script, stunts or anything that makes a film entertaining.

The film looks like it was filmed on a sound stage and you can tell because when it is supposed to be below zero outside, there is no mist coming from the breath of the people in the scene. And that is only one small complaint. The biggest one is that this film suffers from what I like to call the respected man is suddenly a bad guy syndrome.

Batman is a respected, hard working, guardian angel in Gotham City. He has been like that for a while now. Suddenly a shady figure that is grotesque looking and walks like a Penguin enters the picture. Within days of his arrival on the scene, not only has the penguin miraculously discredited Batman but he has managed to get the entire city against him. He has been ostracized from public safety and this leaves the Penguin alone to do his diabolical plans.

Is this the best they can come up with? I mean, aren't writers smarter than that? Can't they write a better way for the Penguin to do what he does? I really hate this movie. With all that I am, I hate it. But it made a ton of money because kids love this crap and for the rest of us that want to see a good film and hope to God that this film will be a welcome distraction for two hours of our summer, are not only disappointed, we are disgusted. Avoid this movie at all costs.

Okay, although the first Batman never really followed the comics. This one is just blowing it way out of proportion. The Penguin is some moron living under the sewer? BULL CRAP. He's a Casino owner last time I checked, isn't he? At least Burton got it right with the Joker in Batman (he fell into chemicals). I mean, making the Penguin into some sewer creep was probably just to add to the drama just like the Joker killing Batman's parents (which was stupid as well). I don't know much about Catwoman so I can't comment. But that was stupid how Max just shot her in the legs instead of the head, what the hell was he thinking? He goes on to shoot Bruce in the face yet shoots his REAL enemy (the one who is trying to kill him) in the legs? Doesn't make much sense. And what's up with Bruce revealing himself at the end just before he will arrest Max? "Hey Selina, let's go put this guy in jail so he can reveal that Batman is Bruce Wayne!" Doesn't make ANY sense.

This one seems to be too dark as well. The first Batman was dark but at least there were some scenes that were in the day (there is like ONE in Batman Returns if I remember correctly) and it wasn't so depressing. This one seems to be brutal (for example: Penguin biting the guys' nose, Penguins last fall, Max's dead body, etc) and has no fun. Batman is way too serious and seems not to care for people (why does he ignore Selina like that?). He seems he does it because he HAS to and not because he WANTS too. Although Keaton makes an OK Batman he's still a weasle and is as exciting as plywood. Michelle Pfieffer was an OK Catwoman and Danny Devito was a good Penguin for Burton's Batman but not for any other kind of Batman.

There is one thing I hated about this movie is that it started the 2-enemies trend in the Batman series. It just wasn't that coherent and the dramatic structure wasn't tight enough. The bad guys don't even seem that threatening like Jack Nicholson's Joker. Catwoman doesn't look threatening at all (but is about as good as they could of got her to do) and well, who couldn't laugh at the fact that those penguins had ROCKETS on their backs? And what's up with Batman saying sorry for hitting a girl? I thought the gender's were equal! But here is Batman being nice to a villain because she is FEMALE. So, females deserve mercy while males don't? Is Batman a pussy or what?

And I have to agree with Dan's complaint up there about the 'respected man turns bad' syndrome. I mean, when the Ice Princess fail couldn't they have at least someone else pushed her off and Batman tried to save her? Seriously, didn't they think "Hmm... why would Batman do that? He has nothing to gain!" The story makes NO SENSE AT ALL...

Anyways, the story doesn't make much sense (is it about the Penguin trying to become a Mayor and be accepted, or his plot against Gotham? Or is this mainly about Selina trying to get revenge or her being a criminal?), subplots that go nowhere, characters that are flat and badly portrayed. The movie is just an all around failure and is saved by its action sequences.

My favorite of the series. It had some terrific elements... Tim Burton's dark style, Catwoman, and Michael Keaton (the best Batman for my money).

The only thing holding it back from reaching the uper echelon of my top movie list is Danny Devito's portrayal of the Penguin. I found him more annoying than "fun", and by the end I had enough of the Penguin. Instead of wanting more (like with the Joker), I wanted less.

Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of Catwoman was purrrrfect, and it makes me sad that Halle Berry's Catwoman completely destroyed the character.

Disgusting movie. Tim Burton's weirdness on display. Very bad sequel.

Saw it again today. I hate some stuff going one with the Pinguin (Big yellow ducks nuclear armed power pinguins). I also think it has some storytelling and editing probs.

I have to say in some way I like Batman Forever better

An improvement over the original, mainly because Burton let his distinctive style come out. The story's a bit better, but it's the Gothic look of the film that makes me like it more. And also because Catwoman is probably the best Batman villain portrayed thus far. The romance in this film is far more interesting than in any of the other Batman films - especially Begins - and it's mostly because Michelle Pfeiffer is terrific. Keaton is better than in the first one, and Danny DeVito is pretty good, but I thought Christopher Walken was wasted in a rather useless villain role. It's easily the weirdest of all the Batman films, and it's also the best of the 'original' franchise.

My favorite Batman film also. Probably due to Burton having full control over it, which led to the villians becoming more interesting to me than Batman was, which was a good thing. That is probably my main problem with Batman Begins. I really liked Batman Begins, except I didn't like the lack of villians, and it was too.... realistic. The look and feel of the movie is also awesome, as is the score by Danny Elfman. I still have my Toy Duck Car that the Penguin had in the film.

That pretty much sums up what I think. Although it gets a lot of crap, Forever is a better film and much more fun than Returns was.

I think Forever is better than people give it credit for - I may even like it better than the original - but it's just pure entertainment. It's got none of the style or depth that Returns has.
