This topic shouldn't even be discussed for a month.
EVERYBODY is going to think *omg best picture of the year* although we've heard this two times already this year.
See what people say in three weeks, after War of the Worlds is distracting them.

Should be interesting if we start a poll on "which of the three movies is better between BB,ROTS, and WOTW?" 2 weeks after WOTW comes out

I agree, but summers are always like this.

I just came from Batman Begins and I was stunned.
I actually thought it was better than Cinderella Man, slightly.
It has a great, an amazing story with and incredible soul. The most thought out, well organized, best edited, smoothly run Batman to date. I love how they tied up everything. EVERYTHING! I love how they didn't really pursue the Katie Holmes love story and hwo they ended that.
I really hope they all come on board for the next one, even though it will be tricky since they set the chronology to run right into the original quadrilogy, that means they have to deal with the Robin and Batgirl plot-points.
O well, I'm sure they can think of something.
Now, I don't think it will get nominated for Best Picture or if it even has a chance but I'm sure by the end of the year, it will be on the deserving list. Better than any other comic book movie I have seen. Maybe it's because Batman is the darkest, or one of the darkest comic book series' and they finally did it justice; because it actually contains some meaningful or maybe just heavier material and ideals set it apart from the rest.
We'll just have to see hwo the summer pans out. If War of the Worlds doesn't meet expectations, both box office and critical wise, then I'd say it would help raise Batman to the level of being one of the only pre-fall players in any of the Oscar categories.

Was watching Movie Club with John Ridley on AMC last night and two of the critics had the gall to mention the Bat and Oscar in the same sentence.
How insane!

They must be sniffing the same stuff that's in the movie.

It's been a couple weeks.
Impact has died down... Batman is successful but (IMHO) not noteworthy long term.
No nominations I think.
I can't see any category for which it could be considered a really strong contendor.

i think the one thing that'll go for it at the end of the day is a return to traditional stunt work for SFX as opposed to CGI.
its oscar chances .. i'm not even going to think about it right now.

Nope, no chance. Spider-Man II was at least as much liked as Batman Begins, if not more and it didn't make it despite a much bigger gross and better reviews. I'd love to see it nominated, but it ain't happening.
