Will Batman Begins make more than War of the Worlds?
Join the bandwagon  . Lots of hype leading to its release date and the reviews have been very overwhelming so far. It may not have the biggest opening but the critical acclaim its receiving may mean it will have stronger legs. Whos with me on this that Batman Begins will make more than War of the World since Tom Cruise is going all Wacko Jacko on us and people may not watch WOTW because of that?

No, but im 99% sure neither movie will make over 300m.
Begins - 220m
WOW - 250m
Something like that, WOW has a larger appeal to it i'd say, unless the movie sucks, it should do quite well. Both movies will save the summer.

Nope. There's just no way Batman Begins has more appeal than War of the Worlds, which also has Independence Day weekend.
War of the Worlds - $250 million
Batman Begins - $215 million

Yeah, the 6-day opening will be the killer even IF it wasn't going to be bigger from the start (which it is). Batman will still do really well but I think WoTW has too many factors going for it.

I'm gonna be honest with you here: Despite the fact that I thought BEGINS was a very good movie, I can't help but to feel it *MIGHT* pull a HULK in it's 2nd weekend and drop the same way.. It really does border on being a little too serious like HULK was and moviegoers like movies that are "feel good" type of films which this really is not.. With that having been said, I think WOTW will probably beat it out and not saying that's much better of a feel good type of film but it's Spielberg and it's just a different beast altogether.. We shall see..

I'm in.
I've lowered my WOTW prediction, as the commercials are underwelming compared to be very high expectations, and there is Cruise. It might not affect the film that much, but if just 10% decide to stay home as a result of his behavior, which I could easily see, it would cost 20m or so. 198m.
For Batman, I'm sure many think I'm still crazy to predict this, but I believe this film has way to much appeal and buzz not to do at least 250m. I'm still at 328m as everything has been going as well as I've expected.
So, I am very much in.

Seems it'd be a better movie of the two, so can only hope it outgross WOTW.
But don't think it will.

War of the worlds had a really good shot at 300 million and more. I think batman begins will cross 200 million an end around 215 million.
