Pretty much what was expected after seeing the Yahoo reviews. Still pretty crappy for the other three openers.

Wonderful for Smith(s).

Sharkboy and Lavagirl didn't do so hot, but The Honeymooners and High Tension will be forgotten by next week.

Also, extremely disappointing for Cinderella Man. It might have to settle for a final gross of barely over $50M.

Also, Lords of Dogtown? A hysterically awful drop near 75% for the weekend is in store.

Wow.

And I thought it wasn't going to top 16 million, very solid number. Guess High Tension didn't do so good...
I wonder how Howl's Moving Castle did...

Mr. and Mrs. Smith on par with I, Robot's $18 million Friday, so $50 million is pretty much a lock.

High Tension might screw lots of game players. So, here's hoping for 300k gross at most. :-)

And nice for Sith, on it's way to $15m.

Nice but a low # for the Smiths would have been very unexpected

because of

Great Trailers

Pitt and Jolie

Fun, Sex and Action

Mr. & Mrs. Smith made about $600,000 more on opening day than I, Robot did in July of last year. Assuming the weekend multiplier is stronger because it's still June, I see no less than $52M for the weekend.

Now that I think about it, Cinderlla Man and ROTS had horrible drops. AOTC's 4th Friday was also $3.9 million.

I think Smith will finish with about 175m. Could be in the top 10 for the year.

Glad I went with 2.8 for High Tension.

I don't get how Cinderella Man dropped so much. This film was made to have legs.

Nice for Madagascar.

Maybe the whole incident with Russell Crowe and the phone throwing could have contributed slightly. Then again, probably not, but you never know...

Yes, I think so too. This year's Bourne Supremacy, and I'm glad we got one.

Maybe because the film is utterly passable?

There's just not enough interest in this film, despite the good reviews.

Very good for the Smiths.
Sith did well. I don't expect AotC like drops. 350-370 still very likely.

Hopefully Howl's Moving Castle can do a 1 million dollar weekend on 36 theatres.

Maybe CM just wasn't that good.

I don't see why Smith(s) would have a multiplier that low. How frontloaded could this film actually be? Surely it would make more on opening weekend than I, Robot ($51.2M) which opened when schools were all out (mid-July). I mean, it also made more on Friday than Robot did.
