PS. go and post your thought on Teenstuff forum! we need more movie maniac over there! [-o< Yeah, I've read about about it. All the american movies will be banned from the 1st of July to the 1st of september ( with the exception of War Of The Worlds ), to give more room to the egyptian movies. But here are the good news, from now on, the american movies will be able to have 8 theatres, and not only 5 like now. BTW, I Hate the people at teenstuff, they still didn't give me a permission. So my acount is not activated yet
wow .. it must be having the same email problem we are.

I saw kicking and screamng today at 11:35 A.M. I was hoping to have the theater all to myself, but there were 3 other people there. All the theaters were pretty empty, but what do you expect on a Thursday before noon.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith opened in New Zealand yesterday and I caught it at 2:30 pm on a friday afternoon. Blockbusters often get fairly similar PTAs in NZ to US (Sith basically matched it dollar for dollar) so I thought I'd gauge the interest though I guess at 2:30 it can be difficult to do.
6 people in a 240-seater, not that I was expecting more. Good action movie, witty lines, overall it was funny and enjoyable althought it did kind of end abruptly I'll watch it again when it comes on DVD - I'll give it a low B or a high B- which is pretty good in my books, especially for a no-brainer popcorn flick. Pitt and Jolie play off each other well and the husband-wife bickering is hilarious when they're in the middle of this massive gun battle near the end.
Not sure what the crowd thought, most people there were loners like myself with nothing better to do so there wasn't any discussion. It was silent and eerie and I swear I saw a ghost though it may have just been that I forgot to take my pills

 Shark Boy...Holy Crap !!!
As everyone knows my theatre does extremly well on kids/family movies... always in the top 3 in the entire south.. So our theatre avg is always way over the countrys....But if this is any indication on what the weekend will bring I have a feeling alot of people who went below 10 mill are going to be upset...
And of course it is a day movie and will die off at night but still...look at this ...holy crap....
2 screens 200 seater and a 175 seater...
1130 -SOLD OUT
1230 - SOLD OUT
200- SOLD OUT
300 - SOLD OUT
and we already have tons and tons of tickets sold for the rest of the day
.......
On a side note in our biggest theatres on 3 screens all of our smiths are anywhere from 30- 50% full with lots of tickets for tonight
but still....

I actually lowered my SHARK BOY prediction to 19.4 Million, but now I'll raise it back up to 22.4 Million. I sure hope it does well everywhere else too because I don't want to end up disappointed I raised my prediction back up. So let your theater be an idication of what's to come for SHARK BOY this weekend!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
1:50 PM, Springfield 8
200 Seater, 25% Full
Trailers:
Under the Blue - I think that's the name... never heard of it
The Wedding Crashers - great laughter
Must Love Dogs - laughter
The 40 Year-Old Virgin - little laughter
Fantastic Four - nothing
The Movie:
Wow.. what a fun movie! It has a lot of humor and is a movie that is 100% better in the theater. The story was a little unbelievable, but it was still entertaining. I had some minor issues with it, but they didn't bother me as much since the rest of stuff was so great.
Grade: B+

why do people feel the need to tell others the end of a movie just because they have already seen it...
How rude!

Maybe I should have stuck to my original prediction for SMITH in the lower 30's. If it ends up doing closer to what I was originally predicting I'll be so disappointed that I raised my prediction.

Coralville -1 PM

Dukes of Hazzards - Some reaction. Looks bad

WOW. I shouldn't be surprised how good the film was since Liman has yet to make a bad one. Jolie and Pitt were great (perfect cameo by Vince), the morning after never seemed so strange and funny.
Action was really good, though not great. And considering it's being billed as an action film, it's not wall to wall. There's a very funny bit involving a minivan. And the fight in the house was incredible. The script is the worst part of the film, I'm curious how much of it was doctored since there are moments of brilliance amoung the crap. It's very uneven.
The final 20 minutes or so don't work as well as the rest of the film. Since it's the last thing you remember, the film gets an

I think that the reason it may have felt so uneven was because the script by Simon Kinberg was his thesis at Columbia, but it had some uncredited rewrites by Kieran and Michelle Mulroney, as well as Jez Butterworth after it was actually going into production. That along with some supposedly extremely heavy editing (Angela Basset and Keith David's roles were supposedly hugely cut, as they were originally the biggest cast members after the leads) would probably be the cause for some uneven bits here and there.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
6:05 p.m., Sold Out
Muvico Paradise 24, Miami FL
Wow. Now I remember why I don't go to this theater: it gets really packed. Still, I've never seen it like this before. And there was a line to get in that stretched outside the theater.
Anyways, the movie was, in short, freaking amazing. It had a perfect blend of humor, action, and romance. Angelina and Brad have superb chemistry, and the movie is everything that a summer blockbuster should be. It was a non-stop thrill ride and I enjoyed it profusely. Possibly the best movie of 2005. And the crowd loved it (there was applause at the end, to my surprise).
A+

EW's cover story dives into the troubled history of the film. Specifics though weren't given as to who wrote what. Since I'm not a Kinberg fan, I'll just write off all the crap to him and anything that worked to script doctors.

Wow. This movie defines everything I love about a summer blockbuster. Non-stop action mixed in with great comedy make this one of the best movies of the year. Brad and Angelina have amazing chemistry and it felt like they were enjoying themselves on screen. If I didn't know better, I'd say this was a Bruckheimer film cause it sure felt like it.

Here is the matinee report at my theater (before 6)
High Tension (90 seater)
2:25 - 2 people.
4:50 - 19 people.
(Pretty Bad if you ask me, though the night shows sold some advanced tickets, and it is being moved to a 150 seater at night, so 1 million friday is still possible).
Honeymooners (200 seater and 150 seater).
1:00 - 2 people.
2:15 - 12 people.
3:25 - 5 people.
4:45 - 4 people.
5:50 - 4 people.
(Yikes, talk about major flop. This is even worst than High Tension I know this is only a matinee, but this show no sign of hit status at all. It could struggle to get to 1 million on friday based on this).
The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3D
12:30 (400 seater) - 5% full.
2:05 (200 seater) - 10% full.
3:05 (400 seater) - 6% full.
4:40 (200 seater) - 30% full.
5:40 (400 seater) - 13% full.
(For a kids movie, this isn't bad at all. About 3-4 million Friday based on this, and Animosity's impressive report).
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
12:35 (400 seater) - 39% full
1:25 (600 seater) - 14% full.
2:10 (600 seater) - 17% full.
2:40 (300 seater) - 27% full.
3:30 (400 seater) - 36% full.
4:25 (600 seater) - 26% full.
5:00 (600 seater) - 29% full.
5:45 (300 seater) - 68% full.
(Wow, talk about a massive blockbuster performance. In fact, this was second biggest matinee performance this year (that is after Star Wars), and it outsold all the 26 other shows, combined. The 6:30 show was already half full by the time I left (at 6:10). 16 million friday seems to be the minimum based the business here).
Overall, thanks to the Smith's, we had the biggest non holiday Friday matinee this year. Looks like this theater is getting back on track.

Movie
Talk about a way to make a supremely enjoyable motion picture. I'm not sure if I've been as purely entertained by a blockbuster since Pirates of the Caribbean. The film was *much* better than I was expecting. I mean, I was expecting to enjoy it, but not as much as I did. The film works better as a comedy than an action film, which is similiar of 1994's True Lies, which shares a similiar plot element. Although some of the action is handled well (particularly the Smiths' brutal combat that eventually leads to sex), the movie was making me crack up quite a bit. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, besides both looking better than they ever have, are pretty much perfect. The two have amazing chemistry (well, duh) and their delivery of their lines is just great. In particular, Jolie positively smolders here. Just a delightful surprise. As I said earlier, I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a movie so much. A-
The crowd reaction seemed to be very favorable.

Great reports for Mr. and Mrs. Smith!
It looks like this can hit $50 million after all. It might fall short with about $45-48 million, which is still fantastic.

Update
Mr and Mrs Smith sold out the 8:50 show (in a 300 seater), the 9:30 show (in a 400 seater), and the 10:30 show (in a 600 seater) at my theater
Edit: now the 11:10 show sold out as well (in a 600 seater). Looks like the 11:55 will sell out as well, because my theater just added a 12:15 show.

HSX Reports:

(Southern California Megaplexes)
For the record, I chickened out on all the openers at the last minute.
How well did SMITH do?
$1000 better per exact same screen than LONGEST YARD (4 screens) the near midnight (1145) show sold out 2 hours before.
Granted the multiplier is still a thing of mystery, but with the excellent female turnout odds are the legs are going to be really pretty close to 3.0
On a side note Doug Liman cameo'd to check out.
#'s were pretty darn close both in the OC and IE.
SHARKBOY was a mixed bag at sites I visited. In the LBC it was just a little shy of SPY KIDS 2 biz, however in the OC and IE it was closer to 3/4th's the biz. This could still be a short, but stands a shot at breaking even or being a very, very small long. 9:00ish biz was actually not that bad.
HIGH TENSION did 2.2K. By comparison, DOGTOWN did 2.9K last Friday.
HONEYMOONERS did about 86% of the June 3rd biz of LORDS OF DOGTOWN in the LBC, unfortunately, the LBC is going to do better than the national average for a Cedric the Entertainer film, so this is looking like a below 6 million opening.
CIMAN was off 49% which is pretty decent, but considering how much hope there was for a extraordinary hold, has to be disapointing.
Other random people are posting sold out shows, too, but this one caught my eye.
