 Eagle's Bold? Prediction.
Match Point walks away with at least 3 nominations for the Oscars this year including:
Best Supporting Actress: Scarlett Johansson (win)
Best Director and Best Picture.
Allen could very well win Best director, but the movie will need to perform well at the BO to have a shot at Best Picture.
I predict wins in 2 of the 3, with a loss in BP.

I won't lie, this is in my top 3 most anticipated for the year.
The buzz coming out of canes didn't hurt that at all ... people saying if it had been entered it would have cake walked to a win.

Hmmm....on second thought, I read Dreamworks has acquired it and is planning on some serious Oscar campaigning for it. They're no slouches in that area. Still, picture seems like a long shot, but who knows?

EVERYONE is saying that Woody Allen is finally back with this movie! Can't wait to see it.
Well-received Allen movies almost always get Screenplay and Supporting Actress - so Johannson definitely has a good chance.

Yep.
This may have a chance to repeat Bullets Over Broadway and Mighty Aphrodite. Allen directed Dianne Wiest and Mira Sorvino to Oscars two years in a row for those films.

I hope it happens since I like Scarlett, but it's been 10 years since Mira Sorvino's win in Mighty Aphrodite. Maybe the Oscars want to keep throwing some love to old guys like Clint and Woody these days.

Unless Match Point can pick up a bigger US distributor that can push it hard for best picture it will be buried by campaigns and politics of bigger studios. But this is bound to only make less than $20 million dollars regardless. Outside of New York, Allen isn't a BO draw. These are two big, big negatives to it's potential. Remember with the Oscars: It's not about what's best, it's about what's good + what has the right stats.
So at this point, no, I only see Screenplay possibility.
Supporting Actor categories are too hard to project at this point. In fact, they hard hard to project until December

But it did get picked up by a decent distributor.
Your right on screenplay of course, but regardless, its all wait and see.

Crap it didn't save my post.
You could have mentioned that Dreamworks picked it up last week, it hasn't hit news sites or IMDB yet. Anyway, I googled it and found it.
So now we have Dreamworks... who hasn't got a nomination very consistently the last few years with:
Memoirs of a Giesha
Elizabethtown
Match Point
The Prize Winner of Definance, Ohio
...as their (IMO) likely canidates for a picture nomination.
