I've seen 7 of 'em. Haven't seen Goodbye Lenin, which I've heard excellent things about. Who would have guessed it was a German Movie? :P

Haven't seen Japanese Story either, but I'm a gib fan of the actress before she broke into American film with Sixth Sense. It killed her career, I haven't really heard of her since. But she was fabulous in Muriel's Wedding. Also, my formal introduction to Abba.

You've seen Cowboy beebop? Are you a big anime fan? Did you check out Steamboy this year? You might like it.

Only one I've never heard of is La Haine???? :-k What is it about?

yeah goodbye Lenin is really good! (and yeah when I first heard the title I didn't think it was gonna be german.lol)

toni collete was sooo good in muriel's wedding wasn't she!! lol about Abba!!

I'm not the biggest anime fan but I do watch some- my brother is an obsessive anime fan so reccommends stuff to me.... not sure why i like bebop so much, but I do.... my fav bit is ein the corgi walking around with a pumpkin on his head!!! lol funny!!

I'll have to check out steamboy.

La Haine is about these three french guys living in the suberbs of paris? - during riots of the mid 90s. it's basically them vs the police and it ends up a pretty sad story... great ending!....beautifully shot as well in black and white.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113247/

worth a watch!

I liked "City of God" and "Goodbye Lenin" a lot. "Lenin" did also turn me on to a huge Daniel Brühl fan (Watching "Ladies in lavender" in a few hours! )

...Although I consider "Couchin tigger" one of the most overrated movies of all time and that has put me off asian martial arts cinema for a while - hence I haven´t seen "Hero" or "Flying daggers". I know it´s prejudgemental of me and will try to watch them a t some point, just not in a rush right now...

And "Le haine" was directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, the guy who also directed "Gothika" (gulp) and was Amelie´s love interest in "Amelie" - also an actor, talented guy all round. He was also in "Crinsom rivers" (actor/director) ... I liked "La haine", B/W, pretty rough film, and very well done.

I had been told that "Japanese story" was very pretentious so I didn´t see it... Maybe I should re-consider. I liked Toni Collette a lot, and BTW, I don´t think her career is dead, Dolce. She was in "The hours", "Velvet goldmine", "Changing lanes" and did superb in "About a boy". In short, little Muriel seems to be doing good

thats a shame really coz hero and flying daggers are pretty good. but if you didn't like crouching tiger chances are you won't like the others as much.

I do think crouching tiger is possibly overrated- I like it coz of the way its shot and the tragic love stories- same with hero really (I am total sap really!!)
