And, on top of that, the fact that Sith avoided the horrendous, Phantom Menace WOM it could have recieved is just another good reason for those fans last night to watch it again, and again, and... again.

Horrendous WOM?
The Phantom Menace had some of the best legs of any blockbuster in recent history.
If Sith matches TPM's legs, it would end up with $650-750m domestic.

One more thing. If people will hear that a movie broke some records and that it has good WOM then they will go and check it.

Plus what other movies will they see this weekend? As has been said many times there is no Spider-Man type movies this time or even a movie like The Mummy to steal interest away from ROTS.

I know a bunch of people who are going to wait a week or two before seeing it.

It had great legs, but sooooo many fans were dissapointed. The fact is... The Phantom Menace was very family friendly. I don't think the average moviegoer was dissapointed by The Phantom Menace, and actually enjoyed it so much, it made the WOM seem better than it actually was. I know tons of people (and almost everyone here included) that think The Phantom Menace was crap.

I'd pay the $5.50 or whatever for that anytime rather then pirating it. That's what baffles me. I mean, this is a movie-going experience, not just a film. It's the same with SM2, ROTK, etc. And plus, the quality is bound to be crap. What a waste of time and hard drive space.
Couldn't have said it better.

I believe it's Return of the King with, like, $10 million. I might be wrong, though...

After seeing the movie it's really hard for me to say what kind of legs it will have. On the one hand, the huge amount of buzz and positive WOM should bring in people over the next few weeks who may have skipped AotC in the theaters. On the other hand, it's such a dark, depressing movie that repeat viewing may not be as strong as I previously thought.

$29 million without midnight showings.
ROTK had $28 million without midnight showings.
Oh well, great for my prediction! I predicted $46.5! \:D/

If $46m is correct with $17m coming from midnight showings, I think it will fall short of $100m for the three-day.
