you think that the economy growing weaker in Clinton's last years is leaving alot of anything?.....didn't the stock market fall below 11000 in his last year or so?...Bush got started with a falling economy from Clinton.....but yes Clinton did make our economy stronger in his prime but not in the end

Oh, and one more thing. I've heard people saying they're not voting for Bush because of the debt we're in. Well, we have always been in debt, it's how the world works. If we weren't in debt then we would have no reason to buy from other countries and then the world would fail. So, the more we're in debt... the more we keep the world moving.

Yes, I'm Canadian. To be honest, I couldn't even cast a pretend vote, not in your poll, but just for myself. It's like deciding who pisses me off less, because the US politics don't concern me.

I can vote and did vote. Sunday, the 24th of October, in the year 2004 I cast my vote. I took my pen and punched a hole in my ballot, next to the number which corresponded to... George W. Bush.

But maybe Bush took your video game analogy a little too seriously and figured if he spent his first couple of years as president playing video games, he'd eventually be a better president.

@chipmunky: You are aware that by defintion a debt is something that must be paid right? And the money to pay it off is not gonna be pulled out of a beautiful, colorful, pot of gold hidden in the forest at the end of a rainbow?

Back in the year 2000 the U.S. economy has suffered an enormous setback. It's not like nobody saw it coming - the stock market was growing at a very unhealthy 30% a year for the previous 3 years. So in 2000 the economy collapsed, following the ruling on the Microsoft antitrust case (more reasons to not like Clinton, from a free-market perspective).

What happened then was that investors lost confidence in the market and starting in early 2001 (when Bush took office) the pool of new jobs has dried up. More importantly, the projected surplus of $5 trillion over the next 10 years was bogus. It relied on huge revenues from capital gains taxes. A capital gains tax is something you pay when your stack value has gone up. With the market crashing, there was obviously no more huge revenue from that source. Hence, we had to go deep into debt.

Then 9/11 happened, causeing the investors to lose confidence in the market even more. Then Enron, Worldcom and Adelphia all went bankrupt following huge corporate scandals. This was like the perfect strom for the economy. The U.S. had a good possibility of going into Japan-like recession (Japan's economy has not been growing for the past 15 years). Instead, Bush took actions to jumpstart the economy. First and foremost was the tax cuts he passed (granted the one passed in 2001 was a way to deal with the surplus that never materialized, but the following ones were aimed directly at fixing the economy). And lo and behold - the U.S. has recovered from the recession very quickly, while the European countries that were set back by the same problems still have a very long way to go. In factm in 2003 the united States had the highest economic growth of any industrialized nation, and 2004 looks to be even better.

By the end of 2001 the economy had lost close to two million jobs. Since then, we've regained a million and a half of those losses, and the unemployment rate is now at a healthy 5.4%. To put it in perspective, the unemployment rate was at 5.2% when Clinton ran for re-election and everyone hailed him for the "prosperity" he created.

You are aware that we have been in debt for almost ever. And when we do pay off this debt, who shall we pay it to? The all mighty ruler of the world? Cause atm, that would be Bush.

What if I'm only 16. Can I vote then?

I guess that's what I'm saying. I have encountered alot more Bush supporters on this site than 4, that's for sure, but I guess they're all underage, Canadian, or Krem.

I can think of at least You, Eagle, Chris, and, um, a few more I can't think up off the top of my head. For sure there must be more, or Makeshift lied to me in order to make me come over to these forums in the first place.

I voted for 4 more years of the guy that I didn't vote for the first time. That's how little respect I have for Kerry and his campaign promises. More than that, I will not say. I don't get into political discussions, because I'm not about to argue with anybody on the net who thinks they have the right to tell me how I should think. :wink:
