Post Kylie Minogue Diagnosed With Breast Cancer
http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/19338931

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo immediate treatment, her management team said.

Her tour of Australia was postponed following the announcement.

A statement from Minogue's management said the 36-year-old's diagnosis was confirmed this week during a visit to the southern Australian city of Melbourne.

"Whilst at home in Melbourne with her family this week prior to her Australian Showgirl Tour, Kylie was diagnosed with early breast cancer," the statement said.

In the statement, Minogue said: "I was so looking forward to bringing the Showgirl tour to Australian audiences, and am sorry to have to disappoint my fans. Nevertheless, hopefully all will work out fine and I'll be back with you all again soon."

The Showgirl Tour was to have included performances in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth over the next month.

This is very sad. I really like her, and her music is great. I hope she recovers, and she has my best wishes. [-o<

The Showgirl Tour was amazing, i saw it in Birmingham just a couple of weeks ago, by far the best concert i have ever been to and was lucky enough to be three rows from the stage.

This is VERY sad news, my thoughts are with her, and her family. If best wishes meant anything she'll be right as rain in no time. Here's hoping she's back in the limelight very soon. [-o<

Get well soon, Kylie.

That's terrible. But it seems like the caught it early and it could be dormant. This makes the Wild Roses video upsetting in retrospect.

Love Kylie Minogue.

They caught it very early, so she will most likely be fine.

Its a big shame for Kylie, although i doubt shed feel all that overwhelmed that THE SUN newspaper dedicated 8 pages to her...and didnt even mention the massacre in Uzbekistan.

Anyway other Aussie soap star turned international pop diva Delta Goodreem also was diagnosed with cancer when she was like 19, she had to stop her music career to get treatment; its kind of wierd how that paralels with Kylie.

Kylie's Cancer Surgery Successful

by Sarah Hall
May 23, 2005, 11:50 AM PT

According to her doctor, Kylie Minogue should be so lucky as to make a complete recovery.

On Friday, the Australian songbird underwent surgery for early-stage breast cancer at a Melbourne hospital.

Her surgeon, Dr. Jenny Senior, released a statement following the operation confirming that the procedure had been successful and she was confident the cancer had been caught in time.

"Kylie has been the perfect patient and has charmed all my staff. I just wish I could have met her under happier circumstances," Senior said.

Minogue, 36, checked out of the hospital on Saturday with her boyfriend, French actor Olivier Martinez, by her side. A statement on her Website said the singer "has friends and family around her, and her spirits are high."

There was no word on Minogue's plans for future treatment.

After receiving her cancer diagnosis, Minogue canceled the Australian leg of her Showgirls tour and pulled out of a headlining appearance at England's Glastonbury festival in order to devote herself to her treatment.

The singer has received an overwhelming response from well-wishers since announcing her diagnosis last week. After fans flooded her official Website with support messages, administrators briefly took the site down before relaunching it in a limited version.

An Australian breast cancer fund established in Minogue's name last Thursday had already received thousands of dollars in donations.

Despite the apparent success of Minogue's treatment, her illness may delay plans to have children, according to Martinez.

Martinez told New Idea magazine that the couple had been planning to try for a baby in the near future.

"We were going to start working on it after the tour was over," Martinez told the magazine. "Now it will be put off; not forever--we pray and hope--but for the time being."

Minogue's spokesman has denied reports in the British tabloids that Martinez, 39, proposed to Minogue as she was recovering after surgery.

The twosome have been an item for two years. Martinez is best known for starring alongside Diane Lane in 2002's Unfaithful.

Minogue rose to fame in the 1980s as a star on the hit Australian soap opera Neighbours and later launched her pop career with bubblegum hits such as "I Should Be So Lucky" and her remake of "The Loco-Motion."

She enjoys icon status in the U.K. where she has had 37 charting singles to date. She made her U.S. comeback with 2002's Fever, which reached number three on the Billboard charts and sold more than 3 million copies, mostly on the strength of dance tune "Can't Get You out of My Head."
