I was tapping my foot, but shit, I can do that by just banging my hands against my computer desk, you don't see me releasing CDs.

Well i think it's pretty catchy. Nice 80's techno feel to it.
Not as good as Me Against The Music, Boom Boom, Shadow, Toxic, Everytime or My Prerogative, but it's still decent.
Nice single to promote the album with.

This song has grown on me over the past few days, I actually really quite like it now.
The chorus could use work, The way its been produced there makes it clash.
But the versus where shes like semi-singing is pretty neat. Its alot different from alot of the pop tunes out now, the fact that her last album and 2 new MP tracks are also very unique is only a good thing for Britney.
Shes splitting from Jive soon, and after she comes back in a year she will have alot more control over her sound. I think In the Zone and these two new songs are major leaps towards the kind of artist she wants to be.
And to be frank, its a freakin cool sound. Its played in clubs ALOT now.

"Do Somethin" charted #6 on the UK singles charts before holding OK. It topped a few charts around the world; it was a modest hit for Spears.
However, its real performance has been in America...it debuted #100 on the billboards last week on airplay alone; as the song hasnt been released there and the video etc have been held back by Jive.
Im surprised how quickly it grew on me

It's campy.
It's kinda catchy.
Definitely a step back for her (you know, like Who's That Girl was for Madonna back in the 80s, not that I'm comparing this song to who's that girl...that'd still be blasphmy).
But I kinda like it.

On SALES alone.
( and a tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny bit of insignificant airplay)
The video is currently airing on MTV and is close to retiring on TRL.
Damn it, people and their sttupid facts
But yes, you're right...it IS a Britney Spears song. God forbid your "facts" would be all wrong.

Ya know, Do Something is nothing more then a reject from In The Zone. Its an OKAY song, but they needed to bring this song into the GH album just to have something "fresh"....and ever since when has the 2nd single of a GH album been great?

Hold up; this song hass not been released for sale in America; God knows American Britney fans made a big enough deal about that for me to know it

If your going to be a drama queen about facts just hit up google and check what the sources are saying first; because unless all of those sources are talking shit then it seems to me that its only released for airplay in America. Jive and Spears actually quite publically grappled about the release and they compromised by giving her an international release.

The song has NOT been released for airplay in the U.S.
If the song had charted on airplay alone it wouldn't be a big deal.
After it charted on the Billboard Hot 100 due to SALES (aka downloads) some stations HAVE started to play it, but airplay is still insignificant, and aobut 2000 spins away from being able to even have a chance of charting 0n airplay alone.
http://www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/ ... owtopn=150
You'll have to go down to #118 to find Britney.
In facrt, past hits like Toxic, Everytime, I'm a Slave 4 U are STILL getting more airplay than Do Something right now.
Do Something is currently #50 on Itunes and has been higher in past weeks, and has performed equally well with other download...thingies, enough to help it chart on the Hot 100 chart.
I don't care about your links. They're ALL wrong if they're saying it charted thanks to airplay, and not sales.

well that was grown up
Quote: The TOXIC beauty's ballad entered the BILLBOARD chart at number 100 this week (begs04APR05), despite the fact her label JIVE RECORDS has not officially released or promoted the song.
Instead, the 23-year-old has her fans to thank for the unexpected hit, because they heard the single on last year's (04) GREATEST HITS: MY PREROGATIVE album and swamped American radio stations with so many requests for it, the song made the chart based on airplay alone.
You can see its an easy mistake to make when the story charts on Google news and is on about 50 different websites.

loool
AHHHHHHH
I'm about to give up.
Someone tell the guy the song has received next to no airplay. You guys know it. Pleeeease. Tell 'im.
Hehe. You'd think people would start questioning the credibility of the source(s) when they call it a ballad.
P.S. did you not pay any attention to my link AT ALL?
If all their fans' so-called swamping of radio stations was enough to get the song 15 or so spins they shoud be shot or something hehe. (It was getting aobut 15 spins the week it charted on the Hot 100)
You'd also think you'd start questioning the credibility of the source when they say it charted on airplay alone, like it is some huge feat. In fact until about a couple of months ago almost ALL songs that charted did so thanks to airplay alone.
Like I said, I'm surprised they didnt credit the song to Jessica Simpson or something
I rest my case.

Rod; dont jump to the conclusion that i didnt read your link because i didnt mention it; i said was its easy to see how i was mistaken and suggested that your behaviour was perhaps a smidgen melodramatic; which ive noticed in your posts recently...
Did you give up dancing for money?
Did Julie Delpy ask you [aka "The Gypsy"] to stop busking outside her house with "Oceans Apart" ?
Im going to leave this relaxation tape and this aromatherapy burner over here; and let you mull things over.

...but....
it's so frustrating when you know you're right and you know the other person is wrong and that 's so often the case with me,...you know.
 and i was only half serious in my melodrama. see the winky dinky?
but. im also pretty tired anf therefore stressed and lack patience. wanna turn this into the let's be rod's therapist thread?
(and i totally misread your post. you know, the one i even took the time to quote. that one. the one were now, it apparantly seems like you admitted to making a mistake in. uh....sorry? )

It may take some time Rod...but over a few months, i may find it in my heart to forgive you
I actually quite like this song now; probobly because it gets played a lot in clubs and i mean it was properly released here [and garnered some good reviews, actually which acclaimed Spears for taking her music in yet another direction and providing a refreshing, dancy track! ] the chorus is still pretty horrible. But i like the verses lots. When your drunk it dosent matter its just a good song
Actually; isn't anyone else kind of surprised how much "In The Zone" got club play? I mean; "Outrageous", "Toxic", "The Hook Up", "Early Morning" and "Showdown", particularly the first two, got a lot of airplay in clubs ive been to recently.
Outrageous has grown on me too; i used to think it was outrageously bad, but a few drunken nights bopping to it can transform you Its still pretty weak, but meh; when you see the rnb crap out right now its like Beethoven.
Its probobly good that Jive has insisted Britney dosen't release any new album until like 2007 - they feared saturation and thats exactly what Britney was for a very long time - saturated in fat No im kiding; she was just everywhere , and not in the good, airbrushed beautiful way, in the nasty "Huahaha did you see all those rolls of FAT On britney spears! Shes not perfect and i am hotter than her!" way. You can only see so many pictures of someones spots before you stop and ask, hold on, why is this news? Infact i think that when tabloids point out things like that with people who are widely pecieved to be some of the most beautiful in the world; then it makes people very self concious about their own looks. It seems though that the pregnancy is a way for Spears to escape tabloid mauling for a while - her letter to the tabloids probobly put salt in a wound though.
But i think people were starting to become disillusioned by the tabloids basically beating up on her day in and out. Ive said this before - when a star shines too brightly, the press are always the ones who foam at the mouth to bring them back down; its killed a lot of careers; but i guess Britneys got enough [closet] fans to keep her bouyant. I just wonder how much longer they can stalk her and sell magazines pointing out her imperfections..
Yet i wonder if starring in your own Reality TV show is the best way of shutting out the media. Spears claims she wants fans to see the truth behind the endless tabloid rumours. But its more likely to show Spears as an airhead and Federline as a layabout. it is, after all, on UPN.

Well it's a massive hit over here in Glasgow, in the gay scene.
Seriously when this comes on in clubs theres a great reaction.
Still, Girls Aloud win on the gay clubs.
