 Schnappi - What the hell?
Schnappi Das Kleine Krokodil by Schnappi has just made it to number 32 on my country's top 40 music chart.
This morning I saw the video and the song basically consisted of a generic dance beat laced with what sounded like a small child speaking German every now and then, while the video was a kiddie cartoon of a crocodile running around doing nothing in particular. This song has debuted ahead of fellow debutants Brian McFadden, Head Automatica, Twista and Maroon Five.
My questions:
What the hell is this garbage?
Why the hell is it appealing to anybody?
Is this a sign of the apocalypse?

Amos wrote: My questions: What the hell is this garbage? That's a difficult question to answer. How does one define "garbage" when looking at that list of "artists" on the charts? Indeed, most of the top 10 is garbage, and most of the 100 is garbage too. Quote: Why the hell is it appealing to anybody? I have not heard the song so i cannot guess at it's novelty... which I'm guessing it is... a novelty song. But then again, the fact that it is less conventional in a way, significant enough to call it out, makes it instantly 100x more interesting than anything on that top 100 list. Quote: Is this a sign of the apocalypse?
A sign of the apocalypse, at this point, would be something actually *good* making it into the top 10. Like.. for example... a Sonic Youth song.

This song ...
I have just downloaded it to a cd. From now on, I am rolling to work with this on repeat, system blazing.
I think I will put a bandanna on for full effect.
Bow to the new Gangsta nation of Schnappi.
