Well, despite being "ass" it made over a billion and got the best picture Oscar. Let's see if Ep3 can achieve the same...

Well, despite being "ass" it made over a billion and got the best picture Oscar. Let's see if Ep3 can achieve the same...

SW3 will make 400 Million domestically NO PROBLEM which is something not even the LOTR films could achieve.. 3700 screens is a damn good count for this and it's about time Lucas did this instead of this artsy fartsy attitude he had with AOTC or MENACE in releasing those films on such few screens for whatever reason he did that.. :-k

Where is this extra 100 million going to come from? Will people who haven't seen the first two prequels (or even thought they were just OK) suddenly decide to go see Episode III just because it's supposed to "TOTALLY AWESOME, ROXS EVERY MOVIE MADE"?

BJ, The Matrix Reloaded ACTUALLY opened to about $38m.

Plus, if you haven't checked the opening day charts, the highest PTA for any big release movie (like this...) was Spider-Man with around $11,000. The Matrix Reloaded had around $10,400. I don't see how these $45-50m opening day predictions are highly possible unless the theater count jumps over 4,000 by Wednesday.

yes it did that 10:00pm stuff is total BS  , there were at max olny 100-200 theaters that started the film early. Reloaded holds the opening day record with 42.5m

Actually, Reloaded's Opening Day number is $42.5m, and not $37.5m.

The reason why the $5m is not included is because Thursday previews began on 10pm on Thursday, and finished after Midnight, on Friday.

If you consider the first day gross to be the first 24 hours, then Reloaded most certainly made at least $41.5m during its first 24-hours.

It's really unfair that it's first day total is not listed as $42.5m, but as $37.5m.

I expect ROTS to not only destroy the opening day record but to royaly destroy spideys opening day PTA record.

Oh and Reloaded holds the record with 42.5m
