I respect your opinion! I am still happy that LOTR won though! My wee bit in it pushed over the top for the Oscar!!

j/k
No, I think that a project so massive and a labour of love for so long (7 years) that came out
so well after the great difficulty of translating it from literature to screen and making it so realistic should be rewarded! Personally, I thought FOTR should have gotten Best Picture/Director at the 2002 Oscars, but I would gladly take accolades that it won as a trilogy as payment for this.
If you have ever read the books, it is not the easiest read and I commend PJ and team for doing it justice even though it was not perfect! It is as near perfect as perfect could get for our time save a few omissions which are understandable!
We have seen tear-jerking dramas like Monster and 21 Grams so many times before and films like that
have been rewarded so many times before! They are great films too, but much can be said for a
well-produced fantasy film taking the top prize in a traditionally conservative institute! It has never happened before and probably will never happen again! I don't not think the Academy members would have voted for the film to win this award if they truly didn't feel that it deserved to win as an all accompanying effort of a trilogy!
In the end, it's really not the Academy's recognition that we seek or desire, it's whomsoever
we decide is the winner and that's what truly matters most!
Monster// 21Grams//etc. for you, LOTR for me!
