The words are from the book, and I would do close research to see if they didn't take the music from an old Esther Williams movie.

I bought the soundtrack immediately after seeing the film, So Long and Thanks For All the Fish gets my vote for song of the year! Nearly as great is the terrific Vote Beeblebrox. See/hear it here:

Yep finally, over the weekend. It wasn't as good as I hoped or as bad as I feared, I thought it was cast pretty well, and it was fun, but it wasn't extremely funny. That can't be helped though because most of the humor was in these long rambling unfilmable conversations. My only complaint is I wish they had only told part of the story and gone into more depth, and left the rest open for sequels. As a fun little movie to get people interested in the books, it works. In some ways it is analogous to that Lord of the Rings animated movie from 25 years ago, it was overly telescoped but it did get a lot of people into the books who didn't know about them.

I like the Zaphod song better than the dolphin song.

Um, was the Zaphod one in the movie?

Geez. I saw it twice and I can't remember it either time...

Did I say it was? *rereads my post* Nope.

I have to admit that I was a bit bored and distracted during it at times. The story was very much a product of its era, the late 70s, early 80s, and what seemed far out and original then is run of the mill now. But it was pleasant.
