 Re: Elon Musk
That they took out the Telegram guy is scary for free speech going forward. It's obvious the Western governments want to control the internet. If a social media company can be charged for one of their users doing a crime on it you can take out almost anyone, and it wouldn't be worth the risk to run one.

 Re: Elon Musk
Dude, Elon Musk also censors people. We censor people here. The only political party pushing for censorship are the Republicans with their book bannings and now trying to outlaw pornography. You’re on the wrong side in this battle Shack. The west is not the ones pushing for censorship. That is the Russians and their sympathizers like Musk and Trump and DeSantis

 Re: Elon Musk
Obvious? lol Shack
Dude, he's being detained due to a complicity investigation into organised crime and child pornography.
It's not like in Russia or China where the judicial is 100% political, and a billionaire can be detained under "corruption" when the real reason is anything but.

 Re: Elon Musk
I guess that's fair, we don't know the details. But if someone runs a social media company and a user posts child porn (say the company has some sort of auto-detectors but it slips through, or moderators don't see it in time), does the company get charged with CP? Or should we treat it like blaming the video camera company for someone making a CP video. Or other examples like if a spy used telegram to send messages to Russia or they used it to sell drugs, now the social media company is liable? It appears this is what they are charging Durov for, that he "didn't moderate enough", or wasn't cooperating giving the government access to people's accounts. If true it seems like this is a slippery slope that could be exploited by governments who want to get rid of someone that they deem to be spreading "harmful misinformation" and doing things like sending threatening messages to Musk before his interview with Trump a few weeks ago.

I think the lefties have found their twitter alternative that will have legs in Bluesky, it seems better designed than Parler or Gab were.

I don’t think it really is focused much on the Democrat demographics of Boomers and Minorities. Tweet Social Media actually seems to skew heavily male. X unsurprisingly more than Blue Sky. Threads has more female users statistically, but I suspect those numbers are misleading because of its affiliation and promotion by Instagram. I expect that the female audience for Tweet social media will continue to grow in time, and Bluesky will become increasingly female. Young American “leftism” is disproportionately female.
