We're almost done with 2023 so now its time to look ahead! What is everyone looking forward to most next year? Hoping that the release schedule will stay the way it is since we've already lost a ton due to the strikes.

My top ten:

1. Mickey 17 - Bong Joon-ho is on a role and I'm gonna roll with him.
2. Dune 2 - self explanatory
3. Civil War - didn't like Men all that much but Garland has a great career beyond that and this is a very ambitious title to go for in an election year
4. Furiosa - not as big of a fan of Mad Max series as most people but I am a bigger fan of Anya than most people so it all balances out
5. Deadpool 3
6. Inside Out 2
7. Kung Fu Panda 4
8. Argylle
9. The Fall Guy
10. Gladiator 2

Nine out of ten are in the first six months. Hopefully the second half of the year fills out a little better. The mystery Jordan Peele movie was supposed to be the big one but now we're left with little to hang on to.

I'm not looking forward to many, to be honest. Just The Beekeeper, Trap, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Civil War, though I'm sure I will enjoy some others too.

I sure hope so but highly doubt it. Sure the fall will get filled out with the usual oscar crop, but Tarantino's "final" movie is gonna be a big deal and not just something to open in 4 theaters at the end of December. Guessing Summer 2025 in the same spot as Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Might as well add this, too.

Add Maxxxine, Monkey Man, Twisters and Quiet Place to my list. Abigail has promise too. Schedule has filled out nicely through the summer. Hopefully Fall/winter can get it together.

April is looking pretty great right now with Monkey Man, Civil War, Abigail, The Ministry of Ungentlemenly Warfare, Challengers and a movie called Sasquatch Sunset.

Looking ahead to the fall .. there really isn't much is there? I guess my most anticipated is Nightbitch for its title and crazy premise, but the director has nothing I've seen on her record. She is married to Jorma Taccone though. Never Let Go has promose since Aja's last two films were pretty good. Saturday Night could be something? Maybe animated Transformers or Lord of the Rings?

Gladiator 2 is must see but I'm not expecting too much after how dull Napoleon was. Moana was supposed to be a tv show. I didn't like the first Joker or Smile. Wolfs got pulled from theaters. Anora and Sing Sing look like Dune's biggest competition but meh on both. Are Kraven, Mufasa and Sonic 3 really our selection of December blockbusters?

Wild Robot alone already beat the expectations for the whole season.

I think overall my anticipated films lived up this year, maybe it’s the pandemic or just getting older, but I’ve gotten very used to just skipping films now when I used to go 2 time a week, now maybe I go to the movies 5 times a year. I still need to see the new apes and alien movie though. I couldn’t even psych myself up to see the new ghostbusters movie yet

Gladiator II would be tops for me. We Live In Time looks like a solid Richard Curtis style romdram.
