 Re: Anora
I thought it was great and tonally the most similar to Sean Baker's Tangerine, which remains my favorite of his films. Mikey Madison is fantastic. A-

 Re: Anora
This one lived up to hype. Intoxicating experience and the 2.5 hours fly by. Mikey is rightfully getting that best actress but the whole cast is really great.

 Re: Anora
Kinda overhyped but it's a solid movie. Mikey is very good, idk about Oscar frontrunner though. The last scene in particular is stellar. Red Rocket deserved Oscar buzz.

 Re: Anora
I think I would've enjoyed the first hour more if I realized the client wasn't Yuri Borisov and they weren't really making a movie about a stripper falling for this skinny gamer dumbass. Then it knows that and morphs into the henchman screwball comedy which has its moments but feels like the movie is in love with the idea concept too much and stretches it out contributing to the 2.5 hour runtime. When her and Borisov finally start connecting it's great and has a good ending reflecting that Anora had been on hopium believing the rich kid would save her and making her a princess when it should've been really obvious what he was. Overall I think it was too long for me and I'm not sure I loved the mix of Baker's style famous for being raw in movies like Tangerine with this plot and its fantasy themes. Madison is phenomenal, one of the best female performances of 2020s.

 Re: Anora
Hated the first hour, it was just a bunch of trashy unnecessary sex scenes. The film picks up after that and becomes enjoyable though I can’t say I understand the hype. Its definitely a good representation of the harms of sex work though.
