 Re: Trap weekend thread
I suppose M.Night now only attracts that slither of ever-reducing people that cared about him circa 1999-2002. It's declining because people grow up and get on with life rather than focus on movies, so his numbers will never be as big as, say, Signs, but he'll always have a core. I don't believe he will so easily attract new fans. It also didn't help that he made that absolute stinker with Will Smith. But what was really weird was the Airbender flick. It doesn't sit with his Hitchcock wannabe reputation. He's now back on track, of course, with Old, Knock at the Cabin, and Trap, but that peculiar 2010-13 period has hurt him considerably. And yay for D&W. #LFG

 Re: Trap weekend thread
Yeah, Hartnett jokes aside, the problem here is obviously M Night. This premise could produced a breakout.

 Re: Trap weekend thread
97m 2nd weekend, 54% drop. Amazing #.
Nice drops for most of the holdovers. Longlegs is still chugging along and may get to 75m+. Impressive.
Kinda interesting how Zachary Levi revealed himself to be pretty unlikable last year lol but I doubt Harold would have done much better otherwise.

 Re: Trap weekend thread
M knight’s biggest enemy is bigger budgets. How is it that the visit, glass, and split combined cost less than trap to make? That being said trap is not gonna hurt him. Might help hartnett especially if he gets that Mr. Freeze money excel was alluding to.

 Re: Trap weekend thread
At $15.6m, I would call Trap a disappointment. I expected a lot more. I think many did. I mean, starting at $15m, where can it possibly end? $40-45m is its end zone now. I wanted more for M. Night and for Josh.

Twisters should make 250m pretty easily.

After getting burned by him a few times, people are less interested in his movies. I will argue that The Visit is probably in my top 2 for him. At one point it was #1 and it still might be.

 Re: Trap weekend thread
No reviews looks even worse than letting the reviews come out. Nobody expects 85% RT from M Night, but foregoing reviews looks like it was headed for 15% territory, which of course it wasn't. Great for Josh, though, he has been trending all weekend and everyone is loving him.

 Re: Trap weekend thread
This is M Night's 2nd worst opening. Dang.
I really thought it would breakout, maybe in like an empty market this would have done 20m+. Legs will be weak unless people check it out out of curiosity. Guessing it'll finish below 40m. It's just not a well executed movie.

 Re: Trap weekend thread
To make things worse, Trap went down by $150k with actuals.
