The difference between EG and SW7 is now less than $45m and by end of this weekend the SW7 would have over taken EG in total. I can see a case where EG does less than $70m in its 3rd weekend given the reports here mentioned that is doing good in PLF and IMAX screens and Pikachu should take away 40%-50% if those showtimes if not more.

That is not true. Endgame is keeping 100% of iMax(which is by far the biggest PLF format) and keeping one PLF in Plexes with multiple PLF and keeping all the evening > 6PM shows in places where there is one PLF(XD or Prime or Dolby). There are markets where Pokemon did not get PLF. So majority of Premium Format shows is still with Endgame.

Hmm yeah upon research Pikachu is not being released in IMAX which is surprising. It will be interesting to see how EG hold then.

John Wick takes IMAX screens next weekend thought

Even more surprising because I thought Pikachu is more suited for IMAX than John Wick

I checked around all major theaters around NYC and SF and Endgame is keeping iMax in all of them. So John Wick 3 iMax release is limited. However in theaters with iMax and Dolby, its taking the Dolby entirely as opposed this week share between Avengers and Pikachu. However in theaters with just RPX, Avengers seem to retain them. So until Aladdin opens during Memorial weekend, Endgame still has chunk of PLF showtimes.

Checking at iMax.com, it seems to have around 20% of iMax screens.

There is zero chance of Endgame beating John Wick 3. That is have amazing Presales having sold 1.25m in just one MTC(reported in BOT tracking thread). It’s locked to open above 50m.

Endgame losing more iMax/PLF would gross around 35m at best. This weekend would be the last one at top unless Pikachu surprises us but that is looking unlikely to me.

EG's 2nd Wednesday is so close to IW's. I believe by next week IW will make more in dailies. EG's difference from SW7 has now shrunk to $27m and half of it will be covered tomorrow. I believe fastest to $700m will stay with SW7 (marginally)

With the $16m Friday estimate for EG, SW7 has $10m lead which should easily increase to $20m by end of this weekend.

Probably but The Force Awakens’ legs were pretty basic after its holiday season onslaught. So Endgame could still catch up if it plays throughout June with those juicy summer weekdays.

Endgame just isn't a good weekday film, takes up 3.5 hours of your day when there's lawns to mow and everything else that goes with summer.

I do feel EG's late legs will be good but then again that was the case with IW as well look at its week 5,6,7 and 8 holds. EG is dropping much harder than IW and with these kind of holds I don't see how it will maintain more theaters/screens. Another fact is that for 18 weeks IW never did more than SW7 or throughout its run. I just don't see a way for EG to catch up. Next weekend it will loose some of its IMAX/PLF screens so even with a better drop it will be close to IW

Probably not going to happen, but late legs will still be really good. Screens remain a major issue. This weekend it lost many to Pokemon, and the runtime limited showtimes. If it had more screens, I bet it would increase better on Friday and Saturday.

Wut. Its still playing in way more screens than Pokemon and has screen count like most big grossers in their OW. Its BO at this point is not limited by screen count. Even peak iMax and PLF shows are not selling out except in tiny DBOX, 4Dx screens.

Only problem for the movie is the movie itself and how big its OW was. Almost everyone who would see this movie have seen it already. Now its relying on Marveloonies to see it over and over again. That is why it dropped 58% despite Pokemon having Meh OW.

Disney it appears to have 6 week contract with Plexes and so it will play in ginormous theater /show count for that long !!!

I’ve seen big screen count losses, especially this past week. It playing in less than half as many screens at many locations. It can still be difficult to get good seats right before showtime at a convenient time. And third week is more about convenience.

Oh Endgame things were looking so promising opening weekend/week. Just needed a 2.8 IM & this club would’ve been a success but you’ve failed me. should’ve known
