100% on RT (with 12reviews) and so very many "Scariest Film Since __" first impressions. I still think it is too niche to open very high, but perhaps it could have a very longleggy run throughout the summer similiar to Talk To Me?

Sure why not? The Cage aspect was distracting in the trailer for me though.

8.4 average on RT.

Neon's biggest films according to the Numbers is Parasite ($53m), I Tonya ($30m) and Ferrari lol (18m) so I guess at least beating Ferarri would be a win. Seems to opening limited so curious to see how it does.

It might do well with regards its budget, but then what horror movie doesn't? I cannot see it having a leggy run. It feels too niche.

Most I could see is a 4x multiple. Highest I can see OW going is $15m, so the high end should be around $60m

Remember when horror films hit that note with audiences they can be extremely leggy. Lets see if this one does.

If it could hit a 10 Million opening ala Talk To Me, I don't see why it couldn't leg out to a similar gross. I'm rooting for it.

I'll be seeing it Thursday night. I'm pretty excited. Easily one of my most-anticipated of the summer.

I'm not sure why you think it's opening limited. I guarantee it's wide.

Ticket sales are pretty great at a lot of theaters on Thursday night. I hope it breaks out.

Thursday shows at many theaters are absolutely fantastic. A lot of them are basically sold out. I think this hits double digits opening weekend, and I'll be surprised if it does less than 1 Million in Thursday shows.

i look at this movie. it has good ticket sales especially for previews but the release is very tiny so far. It will probably hit double digits for sure.

The release is tiny as in theater count? It looks like it will be in 2,000+ theaters opening weekend.

One good thing about Thursday night shows doing so well is that it should help WOM going into the weekend. I don't expect everyone to love it, but enough will that it should make a difference. Plus there will be plenty of buzz about Cage's performance.

i look at how many shows it has. Its lowest among all the movies I have tracked for previews. it will add more next week but its still small.

It'd be nice if horror filmmakers could move past religious/culty mumbo-jumbo, but I'm pretty sure many people think it somehow gives things weight or legitimacy (FYI, it doesn't). I'm definitely over all these lame ass sermons about Jesus/sin/blah blah blah and utterly predictable "twists" involving cults, but writers/directors/actors sure can't quit them.

Between Longlegs, The Front Room, Heretic (all trailers I saw with Maxxine), a big chunk of Ti West's filmography, all these endless exorcism movies, etc., Hollywood (& A24) just loves coating things in Jesus. Pass!

I'm not a big fan of religious horror either, but I think any genre can have its exceptions if done well. It's rare for mainstream religious horror to be any good, but indie horror tends to fare better. I thought 'The Witch' was superb.

Just this year, we had 'Late Night With the Devil,' 'Immaculate,' and 'The First Omen.' I thought those were pretty good. 'The First Omen' really surprised me. I had no interest in it initially, but the reviews convinced me to check it out, and I was pretty impressed. 'Immaculate' worked for me by being a bit blasphemous, which I think 'Longlegs' might end up being as well. Either way, it looks very promising, and I'm excited for it.

I think 'Longlegs' is NEON's best chance at a hit since 'Parasite.' They're one of my favorite studios, so I'm really rooting for this one.

For me, no amount of blasphemy makes the religiousity worthwhile. It's enough already, and there's no amount of solid filmmaking that can undo the bible-beating lunacy ;) Whether the "good guys" end up "winning" in the end is irrelevant, too, as it's still a whole movie legitimizing the concept of religion/faith/belief/etc. I understand that most people are religious/spiritual in some form, but it's all extremely tired and just feels like faith-based crap with a harsher edge and some blood.

Good luck with Longlegs, though :) It seems like it could be scary if I didn't find everything about it eyeroll-worthy and/or laughable.

That's fair.

My friend's Thursday night show was almost at capacity, so they moved it to a bigger auditorium. I hope a lot of the theaters where it's performing really well either do that or add showings.

Sales today was absolutely fantastic. I am I am thinking 3m+ previews and low 20s OW.

That would be amazing . I believe it will happen. Looking at ticket sales, it looks like a summer blockbuster.

Damn if this opens to 20m+. Interesting both Neon and A24 getting "big" openings this year.

They've really done an incredible job with the advertising for this. A while back I wasn't even sure it would reach 20 Million total. This could end up one of the most impressive box office performances of the year.

This was already selling well and now benefiting from the TMobile/Atom deal as well. Thinking even 3.5m previews is in play with good walkups and horror generally gets good walkups. Black Phone couple of years ago Tripled its ticket sales at MTC I tracked and did 3.3m previews. the deal will help BO every day till Sunday.

Sort of feels like it will be a mini zeitgeist movie now which will only help it even more over the weekend. Curiosity factor tells me it will have good weekend multiplier too.
