So its movie award season again! We all saw how the oscars voted - mostly wrong as usual but also better than usual too. Why was that? Well 2023 was just such a great year that they were gonna stumble into some gems no matter what! I am confident we will do better as always though.

Yup the last one is a brand new category I am adding this year! It didn't feel right to add new categories in the covid years since just getting people to fill out a normal ballot was hard enough lol. No excuses in 2023 though.

Send these to me by .... lets say Leap Day, February 29. RANKED! The top movie you list in Best Picture will get 10 points while the bottom will get 1 point. I like to have the winners ceremony the day before the oscars, but I don't think I gave people enough time for nominations last year. So we will extend the window for nomination ballots and shorten the window for winners ballots. I think that'll work for everyone? I'll try to do better at sending reminders and stuff too.

Finally, my best piece of advice is that You Do Not Have To See Everything. As a matter of fact, it is probably best to make a ballot based on what you've already seen, send it to me, then edit it later if you happen to see another film that you love.

The new category is fun. FYC Murder On The Dancefloor from Saltburn . I honestly can't think of anything more deserving. Oh shit, I actually can. "The Power of Love" in All of Us Strangers. I hate having to choose.

Sucks that Godzilla was pulled from theaters and probably won't be out on streaming until too late. I don't think enough people saw it to make an impact on the awards this year.

Oppenheiner is on Peacock next week though.

Spiderverse is on netflix.

Guardians on Disney.

John Wick on Starz.

Poor Things will be on hulu but probably not for awhile.

Cocaine Bear is on peacock.

Dungeons/Dragons, Scream and Talk To Me on paramount.

All of Us Strangers will be on Hulu on February 22nd. I beg everyone to watch it before the deadline .

Gonna send out a pm to everyone who voted last year. Will probably need to extend the deadline though. Let's say Monday March 4th for new date. That way everyone can enjoy Dune this weekend before getting back to business.

That's good news. Haven't counted any votes yet but judging by the review thread I think it's one of a few that has a chance at Best Picture.
