 Music News Thread
We need a place to discuss Britney Spears' getting smacked by Victor Wembenyama's bodyguard. What a bizzare story lol. Seems like she tried to play it off at first but got upset when the bodyguard didn't apologize and filed a police report. Really, she should have done that right away.

Meh... I mean, yeah, smacking someone in the face is bad, sure. But it doesn't appear this guard looked around beforehand and just reacted like a bodyguard would if they caught a hand/arm reaching out to touch/grab their employer. It also doesn't look bad. Whatever the minimal punishment here is..., if there is one, it should be that and nothing more. IMO.

Yeah was a weird and kind of childish way of approacing him by Spears.
But still, the bodyguard has to be more aware of how things are. Even if it wasn't Spears, you don't want somebody like Wemby to gain a bad reputation before he even steps on the court.
Britney is releasing a new album though, and this is kind of a perfect way to market it. The "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE" crowd is what brought her back from exile following her public meltdown. She needs public sympathy to succeed. Especially since she hasn't released a good song since Toxic in 2003.

 Re: Music News Thread
I see she's releasing a book but no news on an album.
She got $15m for the book too. Which, if true, ties her with Bill Clinton for the highest single book deal. (SINGLE is important here since there have been larger deals for a book series and/or multiple individual books.)
Prince Harry got $20m for Spare, but that was an advance of a larger $40 or $50m deal that will include four books.

You're right. I saw that she was releasing a new single to promote "Memoir" and just assumed that was the name of the album. That book is gonna be massive.

Saw Yellowcard last night in the second biggest venue in the city. Even they kept mentioning how they always used to play much smaller venues and it makes absolutely no sense that they just became huge all of a sudden. I never would have guessed that emo music would have become the standout sound of the 2000s, barely making a whimper when it came out but somehow, someway being ressurected by the TikTok generation.

I stand by 00-09 as another good decade for popular rock bands/songs. However, I can’t believe the drop off since then.

 Re: Music News Thread
But that's the thing, the most popular stuff from the period (Nickelback and all their clones) are not being remembered as fondly as these emo bands. So it makes me wonder what the kids in the 2030s will pick out from this generation of rock music. Will it be the Imagine Dragons and 21 Pilots types that have dominated the charts or something completely different?
