Re: Edge of Tomorrow
One of my work colleagues said that Tom Cruise's acting in this was terrible. I just don't get how he arrived at that opinion.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
The film is great, but the way that the studio seems to hate the film's title in retrospect is weird. It's not just an US-thing too. Over here, the posters for the DVD/Blu-Ray release read LIVE. DIE. REPEAT. in huge letters as well and Edge of Tomorrow is in small print in some corner. The hell?

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
Well, the title is kind of crap. Essentially, all you need to know is "Live. Die. Repeat" before going into the movie, so that's how they marketed it. I'd like to see more movies marketed that way, so instead of Fifty Shades of Grey, it would be "Bondage. Sex. Anal", and instead of Need for Speed, it would be "Crap. Crap. Crap".

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
No philosophical pretenses but a really good action film. Cruise and Blunt's performance is critical to making us like and understand the characters despite almost no background development. The J Squad and training sequences are as fun as the war in the field. For a war with aliens it feels grounded in "reality" and the battle scenes are treated seriously instead of the characters shooting at cartoony figures, which helps the stakes. The aliens are effective considering how many other films where going with "slimy creature things" have fallen flat.
The Paris stuff didn't work as well for me but it gets more fun if you theorize Cage was still resetting

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
This film is saved by its premise (which is fucking awesome) and its leads. Unfortunately, I didn't find much flair in its execution. Not one I will revisit, but a cool movie.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
I caught this again last weekend. It still holds as great and even though there are elements borrowed from here, the use and execution of these elements are amazing here. Aside from the last 5 minutes the movie is a thrill ride from start to finish. I wish we would get a sequel of this.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
Rewatched it yesterday, and just a great film. One of the best of the 2010's even, thanks to Blunt and Cruise both at the top of their game and the sci-fi action implementation of the groundhog day concept is so well done. Easy to love film, Paxton and Gleeson are great in it too.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
I've been meaning to rewatch this for years. I rewatched Oblivion in February, and that's just still great, so I should really rewatch this too.
