Re: The New Trailers Thread
I watched that trailer yesterday and I actually liked it. Its appeal is being a traditional, nostalgic Holiday-themed comedy, rather than what Hollywood would make now full of woke references and forced diversity.

Know the SNL team and Lohan have a long history. Would be nice to see her host again at the same time this movie comes out. Could see her host sometime in Dec.
Looks decent and think lots of people rooting for her since they grew up on her movies.

Re: The New Trailers Thread
I'm glad I saw the trailer, because from the poster it felt quite similar to Inside Out. Since watching the trailer it feels like a Zootopia-type movie but with elements instead of animals.

I didn't know they were making this and with Soderbergh. I guess I'll have to watch the first two sometime, it always felt weird as a straight guy.

It's one of the films Zaslav transferred to a theatrical release recently after it was supposed to go straight to hbo max

Glass Onion showing had the 80 For Brady trailer and was a bit surprised that it had the best reception of all movies shown. I know Glass Onion skews adult but feeling breakout potential here. It's opening the weekend before the Superbowl, has potential cross demo appeal to old and younger male and female with the football theme, Tom Brady and senior Oscar winners and nominees. It's also based on a true story and those seem to resonate. Also backed by Paramount who seems to be on a roll.
Think since has serious potential. Book Club did $69M in 2018 and think this has a lot more things in its favor.

The second trailer is making me even more excited. I can't see this go under Minions 2 and will far surpass it. Remains my fav to win the year 2023!

Re: The New Trailers Thread - Full Mario trailer
There's a lot of generational appeal here. I imagine the list is quite small of people under ~55/60 who haven't played a Mario game themselves or know someone (spouse, kids, whatever) who did or does. Should be a pretty easy choice for many people to see, either solo, with a friend, kids, family... basically any demo can find an interest here.
And Nintendo (and Mario) is arguably bigger today than they've ever been. Not a stretch that the Switch may end up matching/exceeding Sony's PS2 lifetime sales down the road. And including Mario Kart here was indeed genius. MK8 has sold over 56 million copies and is the best selling Mario game ever (well above even the original 1985 Super Mario Bros.). There are still commercials promoting it!
“Gods are great ... but the heart is greater. For it is from our hearts they come, and to our hearts they shall return.” “We were like gods at the dawning of the world, & our joy was so bright we could see nothing else but the other.” “There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.” “You have to pretend you get an endgame. You have to carry on like you will; otherwise, you can't carry on at all.” "Paper is dead without words / Ink idle without a poem / All the world dead without stories."

Mario is as well known as Mickey Mouse and Nintendo is the Disney of the video game industry. This movie is going to be special

Re: The New Trailers Thread - Full Mario trailer
I probably should've held off on posting this trailer so I could have a better chance at drafting this.
I saw someone post on twitter that Elizabeth Banks was the director and thought it was a joke, but no, it's for real. Hope it's a hit for her.
