You guys are freaking about this too much. People who were going to watch it at home would most likely not have seen this in theaters. In Western markets (where DS is yet to be released) piracy does not impact BO as heavily as Asian markets.

I don't think there is much to freak out about, it doesn't really matter how much it does from this point on (I think 500M was always going to be really hard without china, honestly; once its US run ends I don't know what remaining markets would get it there, the european markets - the ones that are open, anyways - are still under heavy restrictions and generally not very favorable to anime movies, although its performance in spain leaves me thinking it'll still do remarkably well for what it is).

The scrambling to "notify" sony I'm seeing here is kind of funny, tbh. Lol.

I'd generally agree with piracy not affecting BO much in normal situations, but the anime audience is one that is extremely used to piracy, much moreso than your typical moviegoer audience, and if the movie is available in high quality and subbed, I expect it to show an impact. Who knows though, I'd be happy to be proven wrong as it's not like there is that much ground to go off here, but I also don't think it really matters regardless if it does or not at this point. All the major tresholds it needed have been hit, and 500M looks really hard even with no/minimal impact. And I mean, it's not like it needs 500M other to say "well, it hit 500M", similarly to the 40B yen mark.

Guys seriously....calm down. Piracy is relatively big in US and European markets but not as much as Asian markets. Also MK is an equally fan-driven movie running in theaters along with VOD and pirate sites but there are still a GOOD amount of folks in these countries who watch movies in theaters instead on streaming or pirated copies.
