I like Weezer too. What do you think of Beverly Hills?

I hate Beverly Hills. It doesn't go into new grounds, but it doesn't sound like the Weezer I love, either.

Just came back from a listening party for "Make Believe." All of the songs were better than "Beverly Hills," which thankfully does not represent the sound of the album. Since it was only one listen and it was played as background music, I can't really give any in-depth opinion, but it is definitely better than Maladroit. Need more listens to compare to Pinkerton and the Blue and Green Albums though.

I'm listening to it right now. Lyrically, it's very similiar to Pinkerton with lines like "I may not be a perfect soul, but I can learn self control". Musically, it's in line with what we've heard from Green and Maladroit (I actually thought Perfect Situation was Simple Pages from Green for about fifteen seconds), with a couple of odd exceptations (This Is Such A Pity sounds like The Killers with Rivers Cuomo vocals and signature guitar solo). All in all, it's very good. I'll listen to it a couple of more times and have a better handle on it, but as of now i'd put it ahead of Maladroit and Green but behind Blue and Pinkerton concerning overall quality.

Okay, We Are All On Drugs is terrible and feels really out of place. Sounds more like a B side. Definitely not Weezer's finest moment. I'm listening threw the album a second time now, so i'll be back with a final review.

I've never heard Pinkerton.

My Weezer collection consists of the Green and Blue albums. Green is a good pop album, but it gets repetitive after the first few tracks.

I'll download the new one.

You haven't heard their best record, then. Check it out ASAP.

Green is ridiculously repetitive. Rivers was apparently completely emotionally detached from the record, and you can hereit . It's great pop, though. Blue is a classic record, but it has some real blunders on it (No One Else, Undone - The Sweater Song) that hurt the whole album.

I'll download the new one.

Please do. Listening to it again, i'm starting to think it's better than Blue.

I think the Sweater Song is on my Top 100...

Yeah, it doesn't fit well with the album itself, but I love it.

Still, can anyone listen to Green, in its entirety? Is it HUMANLY possible? It's only 30 minutes long, yet so tiring.

l listened to Green in its entirety last night. And l realized l really quite disliked it. Probably put em Blue, Maladroit, Pinkerton, Green now. And l've been listening to Make Believe quite a bit too. (dled it last night; prolly listened to it twice since.) It's pretty good. l disagree about We Are All On Drugs...yes, it does feel a bit out of place. But l don't think it's terrible at all. Besides that, the whole things pretty solid. Freak Me Out is my favorite...l think.

Finally got it.

It's easily their best in a while. It sounds a lot like Blue (still haven't heard Pinkerton). It's got the major chords with the emotional lyrics. Very few bands can pull that off without having to use minor chords (it's a much easier sound, as it automatically sounds "darker").

There's some stand out tracks. My personal favorites are The Other Way ($5 that's the next single) and This Is Such A Pity (I thought I was listening to Peter Gabriel for a second...).

Much better than the disappointing Ryan Adams, Nine Inch Nails, and Aimee Mann albums. Prob. in my Top 3 this year with Thievery Corporation and Mars Volta.

Kypade, makeshift, alex young, etc - Have you guys listened to the Bloc Party album? What's the hype all about? Heh.

eh. I went through about 1 year in college when my sister's entire house was so into them that I ran out and got Pinkerton. I haven't listened to it since. It doesn't really hold me, nor do I feel their music and lyrics aged well.

I like Pinkerton... probably my favorite Weezer album, but I love them all.

Their new one is good, but a little more sophmoric/simple than I was expecting. Apparently I'm alone in liking Beverly Hills... that's my favorite track. But, overall another solid record from Weezer!

That must be, like, your first post in this section.

Beverly Hills is growing on me.

I didn't notice this, either.

Yeah, i've had the Bloc Party album in my iPod for a couple of months now. It's pretty much amazing and worth the hype in my opinion. Banquet is a great single. They remind me a lot of The Rapture, kind of that indie dance sound. Good schtuff.

I just saw Bloc Party live in concert on Tuesday and they were awesome (sounds better live than on the album). Definitely check them out if they come near you.
