Finally, the record is broken after 19 years!!
This allows for a lot of questions: -Will Demon Slayers hold the crown for that long? -Will be longer? Or ll'be a short reign like Princess mononoke or Titanic? -How will be the state of cinemas by 2039? -Will there be any cinemas by then? Or they will be replaced by VR or holograms?
Anyway. Today we crown a New King

Yes it's because of different time zones and that there are very less posters in the forum. Also a lot of people will go nuts after Corpse's official confirmation

I remember even during TFA's run, the box office theory forums became noticeably calmer on 12/24, 12/25, 12/31 and 01/01 even though that movie was breaking various records back then. And it makes sense, people are celebrating. Oh and time zones.

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Forecast (12/26-27)
Frankly I don't think it’s that interesting just to pass it officially. There was no tension, since it became obviously it would blow away SA weeks ago and we’ve just been twiddling our thumbs since then. I used all my excitement up then, when we gradually went from “probably won’t happen” to “could happen” to “it’s gonna happen.
And this thread has something like 15% of its pages from the last two months and change, which is like 1.5% of its lifetime.

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Forecast (12/26-27)
After TFA passed Avatar to become the highest grossing movie in NA back then in 2015/2016, was there any bonus boost for its late run?

Never thought I'd see the day or that this would be the movie to do it, but this 19-year long record has finally fallen. Crazy run!

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Forecast (12/26-27)
What an amazing day ! Records are meant to be broken but this one I was wondering if one day he was going to fall. Today it is done and except surprise this record of Demon Slayer will never be broken again. If one day someone had told me that a film in Japan from a manga that we did not even know 4 years ago would exceed $300M / 25million admissions and especially Spirited Away, a record 19 years ago, I wouldn't have believed it. I am very happy and very proud to have been able to follow all the crazy run of Demon Slayer, and it's not even over, the holidays are here. Now there are plenty of other records / marks to be surpassed, starting with the 11th weekend record which seems to be on the right track. Everything Demon Slayer will do from today will be a bonus to widen the gap, overtake Spirited Away even more and make more of an impression. PS : Thank you @Corpse for continuing to give us numbers and make us live the Demon Slayer run every day

Sunday presales (2 days before, presale just started 2(for non TOHO subscribers) or 5(for TOHO subscribers) hours ago) 11797 / 123511 *all formats 520 / 8705 *imax 9008 / 9136 *4d It looks like you are right, 240k at the usual locations today, the 11th weekend record and ¥700mn is not yet certain at this point but with a Sunday at 120k at the usual locations it should.

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Forecast (12/26-27)
Watched it again since it finally had regular screening in my area. I've watched it in the middle of the day but still, the seats were mostly full. So expect a great number on the Worldwide total here in the PH. (P.S.: I only took one picture at the end btw, I was busy crying again)

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Forecast (12/26-27)
Looks like close to 260k at usual locations, close to 3x of its last saturday but with the slight avg ticket price inflation from 4D showings it'll probably get a bit over that in revenue.
I think sunday will have another big drop from saturday, it won't quite get 1bln but I think it'll get to 800mln easily.
