Creepy, atmospheric movie that hits all the right notes. Conjuring sequels can take a note from this on how to create an effective back story which can then be used for exorcism. The acting is brilliant and direction is great and once the mayhem begins its just balls-to-walls crazy. The only problem is that this didn't have good budget and some scares while creepy looked cheap. The first half needed a little more scary scenes where it is more a psychological thriller than horror movie. One of the best horror movies since the first Conjuring movie. It beats very slightly The Dark and the Wicked from this year, that explored creepiness from its settings but is not an effective horror movie, this one does not explore enough creeps but its amazing paranormal horror movie.

A pretty solid supernatural horror flick indeed. Between this, His House and The Dark and the Wicked His House is still my favorite of the three, but I definitely felt like the characters were a lot more fleshed out in this movie than in The Dark and the Wicked which I did enjoy even if I thought that film was scarier/creepier overall.

It's super atmospheric and creepy throughout, but I actually thought the scares in the first half were more effective even if they went the more psychological horror route for those scenes. The fantastic performances really elevated those moments IMO and the more it went all out towards the end the less scary I found it to be honestly which was a bit disappointing, but if your a fan of The Conjuring films its definitely worth still checking out.
