Let's be ambitious. It's going to pull Spirited Away's five week total multiplier of 2.32 for a 54 billion yen total !

I already think I under-estimated it again judging by these early morning sales. But it's early, there could certainly be a greater initial rush to get the giveaway versus in the evening. That said, a 10% increase over last Saturday is looking VERY conservative; it's likely to be a fair bit higher it seems.

It also helps that the giveaway is made of higher quality material than simple cardboard or something. Those who got theirs from the first showings this morning have posted pictures and while it's still cardboard (I think), it's quite sturdy and more vinyl in texture. They're going to be nearly gone after Sunday, so anyone on the fence of catching for a second time (or more) to receive the art will likely do so tonight or tomorrow.

Well... its eighth weekend is the second round of the giveaway events, and the weekend of the final volume being released. Beating Frozen's eighth weekend remains a tall task right now, but it's certainly in the realm of possibility.

For those wondering, Frozen's eighth weekend was its biggest weekend, and the current record holder of the Biggest Eighth Weekend, that occurred over the Golden Week holiday period.

A movie could make half of Demon Slayer’s one month cume and still be comfortably in the top 30. For a leggy market this is simply an unreal performance, I actually fear that nothing here in my lifetime will ever measure up after this

May be Demon Slayer go Avengers route than any other franchise :

That said I wish Japan wake up to Avengers in next 6-7 years, so that the next big Avengers cross ¥10-15Bn.

Having a 10B movie for MCU would be nice. I wonder how long until MCU admissions pass population. This has got to be just about the slowest market in the world for that.

I believe it's also going to break the record for most weekends above 1 billion yen this weekend, breaking HP1's record of 4.

It's been hovering more around a 20% increase versus last Saturday, but as Alo12345 mentioned, some of United Cinemas sales may be missing from early this morning. This explains that while pre-sales were already up 7% versus last Saturday, it was likely a good bit higher since United Cinemas' numbers were included in the tally this morning.

Amazing! I wish this is possible in our country too (but only one chain owns the license) hopefully when this shows in my country it could get the biggest opening day for an Anime movie.

Here is the updated list of records for the manga, with the numbers from week #51 (November 2nd to November 8th 2020). Noticable this week, the consecutive apparitions of Kimetsu no Yaiba #09 and #10 stopped (they'll lose their spot in 2 weeks) and the limited edition of Kimetsu no Yaiba #20 resurfaced. The manga sold less this week, I guess the cause is a printing issue, if someone can post the printing schedule, I'll really appreciate. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there were stocking issues due to the demand. Last week, while still huge, was also impacted by it, but it was obviously more noticeable this week as the whole week experienced it.

Reprints are scheduled for November 10 & 11 (a couple days ago, and now major bookstores have set up Demon Slayer zones with checkout and everything due to the sales and lines lol), Nov. 17 & 18, and Dec. 02 & 03. That December week is going to be RIDICULOUS, very likely the biggest week of all time seen since Volume 23, the last one, also releases that week. I wouldn't be shocked if the week approaches 5 million, assuming Vol. 23 sells ~2.5 million copies in 3 days, the backlog "only" needs to do a little over 100,000 each.

I am so excited for this!

Very good article here discussing where all the money this film is making and where it'll end up:

https://eiga.com/news/20201112/8/

The author is using ¥35 billion (I'm rounding this up to $350 million to make this easier work out) as a final projected total for his article. Note: This isn't a prediction, but since it's very likely to surpass Spirited Away, the next goal would to be that mark and it appears on track for a finish somewhere around there for now.

This money will be split between: 1. Theater Chains. 2. Distributor(s). 3. Production Companies.

1.) Theater Chains: The article notes that theaters get 50% of a film's earnings.

Is this 50% for the exhibitors the norm in Japan, and applied constantly throughout the movie's theatrical run (and not using a sliding scale)?

Looks unfair that studio only got so little, considering that major studios in the US can command as much as 65% during opening weeks of certain titles.

According to the figures we are more on an increase of 2% than 20% today but since the day is not finished, this Saturday should finally be on par with last Saturday or am I wrong?

Yes, it's looking at a 2% increase in admissions or about flat/slightly less in revenue due to it being Toho Cinema Day. But I didn't predict a 20% increase, just that the day was hovering around that mark around noon.

Its 5th Saturday has surpassed Frozen II's 1st Saturday, meaning that Demon Slayer now has the 4 biggest Saturdays at the usual locations (and 5 of the biggest 6).

Assume that all 1.5m gifts will be sold out during this weekend, does it mean this weekend will have total 1.5m admits.

No. Last weekend sold 1.295 million admissions, so it won't be able to increase that much. There will be some leftover giveaways, probably in the 300,000 range that'll be available over the first few weekdays.
