Mangold is on a hot streak with FvF and Logan.

Even though going with a new actor risks a bomb if like Solo people don't want to see anyone but Ford in the role, the upside just seems a lot higher. If you really nailed a Chris Pratt reboot or whatever it's another massive film like Jurassic World and TFA, and then you get the 2nd and 3rd movies out of it. I also think if you go back with Ford the bad taste from Crystal Skull won't help. Plus do people want to see Indiana Jones die? Cause Ford is probably saying "write me out" if he does this one.
