Are we all still interested in doing the WOKJ Motion Picture Awards this year?!

The categories primarily remained the same, with the addition of Best Stunt Ensemble and the expansion of Best Picture to ten nominees. Films and performances from streaming services will also be allowed.

Below are the rules and procedures to read before voting:

Voting Process:

Send me your five nominees for each category below. What is important is that you RANK your nominees from #1 to #5 because of the points system. UNRANKED BALLOTS will NOT be counted.

If you cannot come up with five nominees for each category, then send me less, but I would prefer if everyone tried to come up with five for each category.

Best Acting Ensemble
Best Stunt Ensemble
Best Original Screenplay
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Animated Feature
Best Documentary

Best Editing
Best Original Score
Best Original Song
Best Makeup
Best Visual Effects
Best Art Direction
Best Costume Design
Breakthrough of the Year (before or behind the camera)
Best Sound
Scariest Horror Film of the Year
Funniest Comedy of the Year

Best Foreign Language Film and Best Documentary categories: in order to be nominated a film has to appear on at least three ballots. A minimum of three films (each) need to reach that threshold for the category to be active. If both of these conditions are not met, the categories will be skipped for this year.

DEADLINE: Sunday, January 26th, midnight PST

DON'T FORGET TO RANK THE NOMINEES FROM 1 to 5!

You are allowed to change your ballot until the deadline. If you do so, please send me the entire corrected ballot and not just the corrected category.

Important: Do not vote for any movies that you have NOT seen. If I have a grounded suspicion that this is the case, I will call you out on that.

So excited! Mine will be sent in after this weekend when I finally see Uncut Gems and Little Women.

Yay! I still have a few movies I'd like to see but can probably knock them out over the next two weeks. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot comes out on iTunes 1/21, but I doubt that'll impact much besides Best Comedy.

For Best Picture, will the top ten films automatically make it or will there be a certain threshold they have to cross like with the Oscars?

I have a few more films to see, obviously, but I'll definitely be sending my ballot in.

I haven’t seen 1917 or Marriage Story but I’d be surprised to see them make it in. Parasite seems a good bet.

I don't know if many will go in the FYC thread, but if anyone hasn't seen and can stomach The Nightingale it's streaming on Hulu and is a great film. Really hoping others here have seen it.

I might get to catch the Nightingale before casting my ballot.

I'll send mine in today. Surprisingly the one I'm struggling with most is Adapted Screenplay. Most of the best stuff this year was non-IP, which is probably a very good thing overall right?

I meant to hype it up more this week, but ended up having severe eye issues. Doing better now though! I might push the deadline back a week or so to get more ballots in.
