Re: Star Wars Episode Ranking Thread Just because I put all the prequels at the bottom doesn’t mean anything. I literally love every Star Wars film. I can make fun of all of them and rank them crazily because they are all inherently silly, weird space adventures. I love Star Wars. Rise of Skywalker is bonkers and fun as hell and made me feel like a kid again. I have a bias towards all Star Wars and I prefer that over being a curmudgeon about whether or not George Lucas or Rian Johnson or JJ ruined it.

George can't write dialogue or direct actors out of a paper bag. The tragedy of Anakin's arc just ends up being more laughable than compelling. I still enjoy Ian hamming it up, though, and that reason alone is enough to put it in a tier above TPM/AOTC.

There is cringiness, but not on Lucas' sleep-walking level. The imagery in TROS also isn't up to TLJ's level, but it is still better than the hollow/inert cartoon-scape of the prequels.
