LaLa Land.
Strong year.
Top 5 from that list would be:
La La Land Hail, Caesar! Hacksaw Ridge Manchester by the Sea Nocturnal Animals

Toss up between Arrival and La La Land for me. It was such a strong year for indie movies.
I'll go with La La Land.

La La Land isn’t that great. The few songs are decent but the plot is dull.

I liked Sing Street more than La La Land but they both solid. Good year for musicals. And Gosling. My pick is The Nice Guys.

Re: Favorite film of 2016 (Awards or indie)
Group 1: Elle, La fille inconnue, Manchester by the Sea, One More Time With Feeling, Umi yori mo mada fukaku [After the Storm]
Group 2 (honorable mentions): Certain Women, The Lost City of Z, Paterson, The Nice Guys
Vote goes to Manchester by the Sea, as it's the only one from Group 1 in the poll. (with The Nice Guys apparently being the runner-up)
