Re: Bohemian Rhapsody $896m WW and counting
Was hoping with China it would have crossed $900m this weekend. It's still not a guarantee.

$900m will be crosssed... You can expect another $1m from Germany alone - it will be huge during open air movie theater season in the summer...

I mean the OS BO of this movie is already insane enough to the point that it hardly matters whether or not it crosses $900M. I am kinda hoping it still does though.

Re: Bohemian Rhapsody $896m WW and counting
I think the most insane numbers for it have been the US and Japan. I only expected it to do well in the UK. Well, the US too, but not that high. I thought it might do $130m or so. But it far exceeded my expectations. I didn't have a prediction in mind for Japan. Didn't even cross my mind that it might be well received there. Didn't even know they knew who Queen was.

Its total hasn't been updated in some time, but it's still playing at 12 locations in Japan.

Re: Bohemian Rhapsody $900m WW celebration
It will add at least another $0.5m from Germany with summer open air screenings...

Re: Bohemian Rhapsody $900m WW celebration
This movie's box office run still boggles my mind a bit. Going through the top films of all time WW, most came from big IP, big actioners, sequels, remakes. I feel like the path for Oppenheimer was kind of paved by BR in 2018 to reach that level of box office ($900M+) for a biopic.
It's domestic gross with inflation now would be nearly 21.3% higher ($262.8M). $52M budget!! Oppenheimer had the all star cast, Nolan, prime peak summer release date, and almost double the budget ($100M).
It vastly overperformed by a mile along with the Barbenheimer black swan event, but I can rationalize it a bit more with Nolan's pre-existing fan base. Queen was an iconic band but BR $900M+ feels like an absurd outcome.

Re: Bohemian Rhapsody $900m WW celebration
I always liked the Bohemian Rhapsody-Oppenheimer comp in that I'm predicting a flood of political biopics like the music biopics.
