Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
Yeah, didn't think Endgame would be so massive. This will probably have a similar effect that IM3 had after the first Avengers. The 6-day opening should be huge.

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
Originally I wouldn't have said $400 m but Captain Marvel may do $450 m at this point so clearly the halo is powerful. As the immediate follow up it can coast.
Lion King will destroy it though.

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
Lord Excel might be on to something. Maybe it was because there were more kids in my audience, but Spidey easily got the biggest applause at my second showing today. People really love this Tom Holland incarnation of Spider-Man.
This movie is going to BIG.

Yes the afterglow will be strong enough for this to make $400m at least.

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
I'm DOUBLING DOWN. I think once Endgame's buzz is over and new movies come out, people are not going to care so much to revisit the MCU. At least, no more than Homecoming. It might increase a little (normal sequel bump) but $400m is a stretch. Especially as it's such a low-key affair too (and has there ever been box office success when US characters visit Europe? Don't they always disappoint?).

I think this movie of all possible Marvel movies will get the biggest post-Endgame bump because everybody has to be wondering if it's a prequel, or they explore the implications of a high school kid missing the last five years .

Well... half of them would have been there and would now be 5 years older, and the other half (peter included) would have just been snapped back. So it's pretty convenient that peter and all his friends were snapped, making them all still the same age as each other. really, they should have made 1-2 of his friends survive the snap, and have them age 5 years.

Was also thinking about this, and I think they'll ignore it till the end since only 3 of the other kids are important, then we'll get a 5-years-older Liz in the vulture suit or something. Also, I'm thinking $170M+ opening is on the table for this now.

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
They really need to be careful not to mess up this version of Spider-Man. Judging by the audience reaction in Endgame, he's probably their most? important character going forward.

Thor has a huge following at this point too in terms of raw charisma, but that he has no emotional arc kind of limits him.

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
Yeah I definitely think $1B+ is a lock for this. They are pretty much selling this as a sequel to Endgame which is definitely going to boost the hype even further. I am also starting to think that it will crack $400M+ domestic with the help of the early week release and what should be strong WOM, although it could still be somewhat front loaded like Homecoming.

Looks like this will be the first film in awhile to get midnight showings as opposed to previews. None of the theaters near me have midnights up though.

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
I could see this doing over $250 million for the six-day opening. It's basically the continuation of Endgame.

Yeah, this is kind of a pleasant surprise, almost makes up for the headache that is trying to predict a 6-day opening for this. Tuesday: $52 million ($8 million midnights) Wednesday: $30 million Thursday: $33 million Friday: $39 million Saturday: $40 million Sunday: $31 million Opening Weekend: $110 million 6-Day Opening: $225 million Domestic Total: $440 million Overseas Total: $730 million Worldwide Total: $1.17 billion

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home predictions
I'm assuming Feige/Disney's creative team is involved in the sequel as well?

60m main channel views for the post-endgame trailer. That's mega blockbuster territory. 500m might very well be in range.

This is going to seriously blow up. IDK if people realize the extent to which this is about to explode. $600m+ domestic potentially

Also would not be surprised if Tony shows up in some form when he puts on his glasses, the VO work in the tv spots seems suspiciously generic. Tony becomes what the hydra guy did in winter soldier but obviously cooler!
