Would love it if no one turned up.

TFA made so much money because of the hype of being the first new Star Wars film and the first sequel in 32 years. Not because of how beloved it was. Phantom Menace sold a similar amount of tickets and is definitely way more hated. Episode 9 could be great and still gross less than 8. ROTS was sold as the LAST Star Wars with the return of Vader. That hugely increased its BO. Episode 9 will be great, and gross more than 8. Episode 9 has no hook. It is not going to be as anticipated as ROTS no way in hell can they pull that "last Star Wars movie ever" crap when we know there is going to be more. Everyone will laugh

Well, Lucas has been saying for years now that the story was designed to be 9 parts, so they could (and probably will) pull that "last Star Wars movie ever" crap.

Disney Execs have to be killing themselves over not putting Solo in December. It's gonna finish probably 205-210, but in December same numbers would have cleared 300. Dumbest mistake since DC.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this finished under RO anymore. I still want to see a trailer before I make a final judgement, but unless it looks amazing I am not seeing an increase over TLJ.

So Disney are going ahead with all of them despite Solo's embarrassment? or are you guys just guessing?

At this stage they should definitely abandon the Obi and Boba prequels. Then they should have a 2-3 year breather (after IX) before the next trilogy commences (probably the GOT prouducer one first).

Looks awesome.
Wonder where they're going... the title seems to suggest Rey maybe is a Skywalker?

Re: Star Wars - Episode IX predictions (12/20/2019)
THE LAST JEDI is by far my fave Star Wars film (aside from the weird Finn/Rose/Benicio Del Toro subplot) and its final 15 minutes are the best of the series since the end of ROTJ IMO and its insane that Rain Johnson got so much for making an actual film developing the new characters as opposed to remaking an OT film and using its nostalgia to get filthy rich but-
This looks good but:
-The title is obviously a way of shutting up the pissy fanboys who thought Luke went out like a bitch -Lando is back -The Death Star wreckage -PALPATINE?!?
This will no doubt be more good but likely not great nostalgic fan service instead of an actual film.

Re: Star Wars - Episode IX predictions (12/20/2019)
All this time to prepare something and this is what they came up with? It lacks the excitement of the original TFA teaser. The chill moment of the 2nd TFA trailer. I don't understand this. Now, I'm diehard so I'm gonna watch this probably 4x but for average folks they are probably going meh right now.

Re: Star Wars - Episode IX predictions (12/20/2019)
Omg Lando! The real Lando! I hate how Disney keeps pulling these cheap nostalgia tricks but God damn it I'm falling for it again.
So I'm guessing the last shot is them at the wreckage of the old death star on Endor, and the cackle is Palpatine who somehow survived? I always thought that it was possible he hadn't died in ROTJ, we didn't see his body disintegrate or anything.
Also, lamest subtitle ever for a Star Wars movie but whatever.
Box office wise I think $150m+ is assured for the OW, but I'm not sure how much higher than that it gets. The original trio are all gone and that's what was powering the last two films of this trilogy.

Re: Star Wars - Episode IX predictions (12/20/2019)
It's a very well made teaser trailer that hits all the right notes to get fans excited and that's about it honestly. I can see it hitting $200M OW now, but the rest will depend heavily on WOM. Hopefully, it will end up being a crowd-pleaser, so that all this toxic fandom can stop, but sadly maybe that's expecting too much.

Phantom menace and obviously CLONES were far more hated than TFA and TLJ and yet we all remember SITH blowing up.
The final trailer will tease Luke vs. Palpatine and this will clear $60m previews

The final trailer will tease Luke vs. Palpatine and this will clear $60m previews TLJ is far more hated at the current time than any other Star Wars movie, at least among fans. It’s really not even close. With had good marketing and looked like what fans actually wanted to see. Episode 9 looks like more of the same. I see 190 OW and better legs than TLJ for like 575 total.

Where’s Mace ... We only heard his laugh. Let’s not get ahead. He could still be dead. It’s probably flashback or hologram recordings. I don’t believe he lived through that fall at end of ROJ. I’m thinking Rey’s getting force tested ala Luke in Empire Strikes back with Vader. This time ole Palppy shows up.

Re: Star Wars - Episode IX predictions (12/20/2019)
Oh wow only 22m views for the trailer? Last Jedi got double that for the first teaser.
Among other big films to recently put out trailers, Joker just did 45m, Lion King is at 24m (for a second trailer), Aladdin did 48m. Sometimes a film's international popularity can create huge view counts that don't necessarily represent it's North American potential, but Star Wars has always been pretty even between domestic and international.
I did my Solo under $100m OW club when the trailer views were really disappointing and I sensed something was off. Under $100m OW seems impossible for this but I definitely think under $150m OW could potentially happen. Too early to tell though, the next trailer could turn things around. We still haven't seen Force Ghost Luke or Palpatine (if he's in it).

It had 26 mil views on twitter. And the live panel had almost 2 mil live viewers.
