When I realized that Meredith and Gretchen were actually ahead of Lynn and Alex, and then Lynn and Alex were eliminated...... I was like.... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a whole new respect for Uchenna and Joyce.
Team favourites ranking:
#1: Uchenna and Joyce
#2: Rob and Amber
#3: Gretchen and Meredith
#4: Ron and Kelly
#5: Alex and Ly..... wait a minute! There gone! Long gone! Woohoo! BYE BYE you annoying freaks. Unlike some people, they were just plain annoying for me. No entertainment value for me.
PEACE, Mike

I was, honestly, shocked when Meredith and Gretchen beat out Lynn and Alex. I was also a little sadder than I thought I would be when they got booted, probably because they were far less annoying on this leg.
Also, Joyce rocks my socks. It's official. I love her.
Yeah, now you have nobody to hate.
By the way, I thought the show was intense and awesome, Libs. As always, your good tastes in entertainment is impressive. I just wish I could have been around to enjoy it from the start.

for once i was actually surprised at the outcome (you know as opposed to when the editing tries to trick us into thinking it's gonna end differently but we know its not true).
Happy to see Gretchen and Meredith stay, slightly sad to see Alex & Lynn go (mostly cause now it mean either ron or rob will definitely be in the top 3, at least one).
U&J remain my favorite team.
And i would have been really upset had it been a non elimination round.

I don't mean to always be talking about how bad Meredith and Gretchen are, but don't you guys think it's kind of cruel to keep them on? Especially after next week, where I can just picutre them showing up dead last at the pit stop, to be told that it's a non-elimination round, and as punishment they'll have to navigate through the next leg with a ball and chain attached to their leg! I mean, they took all their possessions and money! What's left!?
And the fact that the producers are painting their surprisingly long stay in the race as some kind of inspirational moment for seniors everywhere is so inappropriate when you take into account all of the degrating moments we've witnessed. Just look at how relaxed Rob and Amber are compared to those two. Heck, they were even in better shape on Survivor -- without food and shelter for over a month -- then Meredith and Gretchen are now. Please, someone put an end to the torture! [-o<

They signed up for it, they haven't quit, and they have kept up with everyone. I say kudos to them, even if their chances of winning are rather slim.
GREAT episode, with a totally unexpected outcome. I thought for sure Lynn and Alex were going to still be there, but hearing the words "You've both been eliminated from the race" was great. All the teams remaining are great.
How I hope the final four positioning goes:
4. Ron and Kelly
3. Meredith and Gretchen
2. Uchenna and Joyce
1. Rob and Amber

Great episode. One of the nicest moments was seeing the look of surprise on Meredith and Gretchen's faces when they learned they had not been eliminated. Meredith and Gretchen finished last in every task on this leg yet they still managed to beat Lynn and Alex to the pit stop. Each week I expect them to be eliminated yet somehow they hang on. I'm starting to root for Meredith and Gretchen even though I want Rob and Amber to win.
There's also a way Meredith and Gretchen could make it into the final three since there's one more yield left in the game.It depends on which leg the yield is placed since next week is a non-elimination leg. If the yield is in the second to last leg it will almost certainly be used to try to eliminated either Rob and Amber or Ron and Kelly. In earlier races when Colin/Christie and Adam/Rebecca were yielded both teams ended up coming in last and were only saved from elimination by a non-elimination leg. If the yield is in the second to last leg that could be enough to let Meredith and Gretchen slip into the final three.

I think the next team to be eliminated is going to be Ron and Kelly, honestly.
Something is going to happen to those two, I just don't know yet.
I sort of wish Ron would dump her. When he's not making his endless POW comments, I sort of like him. Kelly bugs, though.

I would love for that to happen. I'm rooting for them until they are kicked off, which hopefully won't be soon.

Gretchen on that elephant was intolerable.
But as a team, she and Meredith are sill 100x better than Ron & Kelly.
For me at the moment, it's still...
1. Uchenna & Joyce
2. Rob & Amber
3. Meredith & Gretchen
4. Ron & Kelly

God, for a second I thought you said "pray for Meredith to keel-over by the way."
And they have been extremely lucky, but that isn't all that's got them this far. They are very determined and it shows.

Exactly the same for me.
Gretchen was annoying the crap out of me during that elephant thing. Why in the *hell* does her voice have to be so screechy? Ugh.

The fact that they're still in the race is enough to say that they're unlucky. They're clearly not enjoying themselves, and I'm seriously concerned for Meredith's health. Not only does he have to drag Gretchen along with him, but he has to push her around in a 600-pound elephant! Seriously, that must have been a site for the locals: watching an old-man pushing some crazy lady around in a giant elephant while she's screaming histerically in a foreing language.

How do you know they're not enjoying themselves?
I have *never* gotten that vibe from them. If anything, they seem determined, although Gretchen is defeatist at times.

Oh...I did find it funny and ironic that the one word that Lynn and Alex bothered to learn in Hindu, "Hurry, hurry, hurry", was wasted knowledge. #-o

I've been meaning to ask, have you gotten through all of Miss Alli's recaps?
They're hilarious, aren't they?

Well, Meredith looked like he was going to have a heart attack while pushing that elephant, and he looked scared out of his wits while steering the camel. Gretchen's degradation reached a new low when she got stuck on top of the elephant (why was she even got on it to begin with is beyond me) and started screaming like a crazy lady. It's like they're stuck on a merry-go-round gone bizerk. And that was just this week...
Just look at how relaxed all the other teams are, even the ones that lose, and compare them to Meredith and Gretchen and you'll see what I mean.

Her recaps are seriously one of the few sources of reading material that I laugh-out-loud at.

Meredith is far too old to be competing at this intensity, and Gretchen "This is a bad elephant" was very annoying, and from the recaps, I am guessing that I would have never liked their team. They were more annoying to me than the Alex and Lynn team were, because they had no comedic value.
Rob and Amber do seem to be a bit into themselves...
Ron and Kelly seem are ok, and if Uchenna & Joyce don't win, I hope they do.

Bleh. My least favorite team, by far.

When you bolded that, you could have fixed it for me so I sounded educated. #-o
I think, much like Lynn and Alex, they have comedic flair to their relationship and attitudes, so they are fun to watch. I still only really want Uchenna & Joyce to win, especially after that poor girl shaved her head.
