 Best Shape of Your Life
When was it?
Discounting when you were a child (because most people are the fittest they've ever been as a child), when were you the most fit in your life? Is it now or when you were 20?
For me, it's not so clear. I have mostly been very happy with my body/appearance. Fitness is a different matter. Running has never been my strong suit. But I can actually run consistently now and I'm bigger now than when I was 20-21, but I was thinner and more muscle-defined back then. I suppose the absolute best time for me was in 2015. I had plenty of time to workout until my son came along.

Re: Best Shape of Your Life
Well I was leanest probably senior year of high school. Was a fat kid till 9th grade and then became a twig by senior year. I’m still pretty lean but not quite as lean as then but did put on muscle somehow even though I only periodically work out. So I’ll say freshman year of college to compromise.

Re: Best Shape of Your Life
I've been sick for about a year, so I think once I'm cleared I can bring it back. But I've been basically 5"11 between 150-170 lbs most of my life. I can still do a 5:50 mile and bike and all that but it definitely hurts now. The problem is the consistency.
Your biggest motivation is that you can always get into the best shape of your life. You just need the discipline. I think I would judge it from the my best year for sex, and that would be about 2014-15. The gym I went to sucked too, and that definitely plays a factor as well.

Re: Best Shape of Your Life
I would not feel comfortable ever calling a time best shape, but I've always been generally fit with better and worse time, Im expecting it to still come, but im in my 30s now already so I guess im just dreaming. I guess if I had to pick any time, it's my last year of high school. It's when I played football thrice a week. And went to the gym to work with some weights for the first time.

Re: Best Shape of Your Life
What do you consider best shape.
Endurance? Muscle? it's all pretty much subjective. Honestly to me I'm a mess mental health now just because there is so much family drama that is killing me. But I'd take better in that then in physical health because I know how easy it is to fix.

I think that's impressive, your endurance is great and physically you sound extremely healthy with little fat.

Thegun wrote: What do you consider best shape. Endurance? Muscle? it's all pretty much subjective. Well, yeah. That's why it's an interesting topic. If it was just "do you have a six-pack, yes or no?" the thread would be shit.

I think that's impressive, your endurance is great and physically you sound extremely healthy with little fat. Well if I do that, I feel like I'm gonna die the next 3 hours. So it's not that impressive. My colon has been giving me a lot of issues the last few months so it's hard to workout or maintain a steady diet. I let myself go a little bit. Last I checked I was at 12.3% Body Fat. May seem good but when you can't work out and your used to around 10 it sucks.I so miss working out to the Rocky 4 soundtrack. Jump rope, pushups, sit-ups and pull-ups. If you can do that everyday. And then a strong stretching routine. You'd be surprised how fast you can burn a lot off I call it the non gym workout.

Re: Best Shape of Your Life
Can you guys do the Travis Bickle work out? 50 pushups (the type where you clap your hands after each pushup) and 50 pull-ups every morning. Plus, you apparently have to burn your skin and muscles using the open flames of a gas oven, but you can probably leave out that part of the routine.

Thegun wrote: Rocky 4 soundtrack I regularly workout to it, but have favoured trance music for the last two or so months. But I just did an incline run with "War", "Up the Mountain", "Training Montage", etc. playing and it gave me that extra push. I've never ran for so long on the incline before. I ran five times as long! Fuck, that felt good. I was Rocky.

Re: Best Shape of Your Life
I also really like working out to the Dark Side of the Moon Album.
There are really only two (well 3 if you are one of those psychos who don't listen to music)
Fast pump music works because it has a definite repetition to it But slow gives a more unpredictable intenseness to it, and it's actually great to upset your rhythm.
We should definitely do a workout playlist thread. I'd also recommend Survivors unused Rocky song Fire Makes Steel

Re: Best Shape of Your Life
Would have to be in my 20's (muscle, fitness) and then again a few years back when I was in my mid 30s (lean, fit, healthy).
Now I'm in terrible shape so have to get back into it.

I slept wrong yesterday and had to call out of work. I feels like someone is injecting poison into my neck.
