Re: Disney buying Fox? Murdoch would. Apparently that all sale would be immediately all taxed. Even he probably wants to avoid Ebay fees when trying to sell something. I think Disney still has this.

Re: Disney buying Fox? Comcast is in a lot of debt, and I read somewhere if they put up more they would be in even more debt. Also, I am more against Comcast, they are an awful corporation.

Re: Disney buying Fox? Almost everyone hates Comcast. I've never hated a company as much as Comcast.
The only thing that gives Comcast power is their utter monopoly over internet in so many parts of the country. They are quite vulnerable to the slightest glimmer of competition.
People tend to love Disney on the other hand. Disney is in a far, far better long term position overall.

Re: Disney buying Fox? I didn't realize Disney had a 30% stake in Hulu and Fox 30%. Since they are developing their own standalone combined with buying Fox wouldn't that cripple Hulu. If I'm gonna get a service I'd probably do Disney streaming over Hulu streaming.

Re: Disney buying Fox? In a article from usatoday, it sounds like Disney and Fox are closing in on a deal. Disney agreed to sell Fox’s sports networks as part of a DOJ request. The Fox shareholders will vote 7/10 on the buyout. Comcast may up its bid but I don’t think they have a chance at swaying Murdoch.

Looks like a done deal between Disney and Fox now, this wiki bit summarizes it all: Quote: On December 14, 2017, The Walt Disney Company announced a definitive agreement to acquire 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion in stock.[1] Assets being assumed by the acquisition include the 20th Century Fox film and TV studios, Fox Networks Group (along with cable networks such as FX Networks), stakes in National Geographic Partners, Indian satellite TV group Star India, Hulu, UK-based satellite TV group Sky plc, and other key assets. 21st Century Fox will spin-off Fox News, the Fox Business Network, FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes, the Big Ten Network, the Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox Television Stations, and MyNetworkTV into the "New Fox" company.[2][3]
Comcast (whose division NBCUniversal includes Universal Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Parks & Resorts) counter-offered on June 13, 2018, with a $65 billion all cash proposal to acquire the Fox assets that Disney was set to purchase, touching off a major bidding war between the two companies.[4] A week later, Disney counterbid with a $71.3 billion offer.[5] Comcast officially ended its bidding war with Disney to acquire Fox on July 19, in order to focus on acquiring a controlling stake in Sky plc.[6] Disney and Fox shareholders approved the merger between both companies on July 27. Re: Disney buying Fox? Now it's just a question whether Paramount or Sony's film/tv division gets sold next. Gotta think Viacom will give Paramount at least another year or two to see if the course correct works out, but you never know.
It's amazing that Viacom purchased Paramount for 8.2 billion (in 1994 dollars) and it's only worth around 4 billion (2018 dollars!) today.
