Re: July 6-8 Predictions (Ant-Man and the Wasp, The First Pu The First Purge is an odd one. Film number four is where Paranormal Activity badly hit the wall. And this being a prequel almost recalls Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. BUT I feel the ad campaign is strong, and it feels very of a piece with the other three, which have shown consistent growth. Focusing exclusively on African American protagonists for the first time could also prove a successful gambit. I believe this franchise has strong urban appeal.

Re: July 6-8 Predictions (Ant-Man and the Wasp, The First Pu The Superfly argument: black audiences no longer want violent, street-centric stories after Black Panther's Afro-futurism and portrayal of regal black excellence. But nah. The black characters here are the heroes. The villains are the suited, white-bread "New Founding Fathers" (Republicans), and the crux of the plot is them sending militarized forces into black neighborhoods disguised as regular Purgers.
