 Re: Disney buying Fox?
Comcast owns Universal, is it not heading to a monopoly either way?
I don't have the insight to know which would be the better takeover here.

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
Disney is buying everything, dude. They are obviously closer to it than any other studio. Just look at the yearly top ten/all-time top ten.

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
Disney carries a more recognizable name, but Comcast is a bigger company in terms of revenue and liquid cash than Disney, that’s why. The hidden motivating factor for both companies is not the movie studios side of the acquisition, but rather the holdings of Fox, such as majority stock possibilities over Hulu, and Fox’sinternational oil with Star in Europe and Sky in India. Giving that to a company like Comcast will give them more power at the source of entertainment and media distribution. Disney does not have much or any pull in that arena, so this would put their hat in the ring as one of the big boys where Comcast already finds itself.

Right, ok. I have no idea about that side of things. Still, though, I don't care about that side of things. I don't want Disney owning the Die Hard, Aliens, Predator, X-Men, Ice Age, and Home Alone franchises.

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
True that both are multinationals, but Disney will have a bigger negative impact on the creative side, and that's what I'm worried about.

I would agree if Fox didn't already put all of those franchises in the toilet, And lol, I think your safe with Home Alone and Ice Age. As DIB was saying. It's an odd thing. Disney cares about the movie section and could help. Comcast has the film division probably 10th on their list of priorities so either way I don't see Fox really changing. There are some benefits to the Disney change though. Who wouldn't love a Predator ride at Disneyworld?

Disney buying Fox almost makes no changes. It's just acquiring new properties and leaving Fox as is. Comcast wants to change the whole structure. How can you even believe this? But anyway, your fucking country needs to do something about the behaviour of the network provider industry. But, capitalism rah-rah and all that shit innit.

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
Of course I want Disney to get Fox. Takeover all those Marvel characters and incorporate them into Phase 5 or 6. They'll be able to fix Fantastic Four and re-re-reboot the Xmen characters again successfully.

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
I'm ok with Fox's original Fantastic Four movies, and Fox have done a wonderful job with X-Men as far as I'm concerned. Disney have enough to do with the current crop of characters, they don't need Fox.

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
I think Disney will get Fox successfully and then X-Men and FF get come into MCU and be saved by Feige. I do not lke the Fox Marvel Movies with the exception of Logan and Deadpool 1&2. I just glad Feige here to save them!

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
Once Murdoch takes control (I severely doubt Iger will keep his job when this is all over), someone needs to inception the idea of breaking up Fox-Disney into much smaller individual components into his head.

If Murdoch becomes CEO (very unlikely with the current board) THEN we are all doomed

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
I will never expect movies like Fahrenheit 451, The Last Temptation of Christ, Brazil, Sophie's Choice, Conan the Barbarian, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Deer Hunter, Cape Fear, In the Name of the Father, Jarhead, Do the Right Thing, etc (and that's not even counting Focus Features) coming from Disney, while I have no problem imagining Disney producing crap like Despicable Me or Fast and Furious.
So excusez moi if I prefer Universal by a mile.

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
I'd probably agree with that. But I have no idea what Disney would do with Fox's movie studio. Would they keep it as a studio? Would they just absorb everything?

I bet Disney will send a counter offer. If Disney wants Fox they will probably get it. They have more money than Comcast.

Do they? Isn't the specialty of Comcast's bid that it's all-cash? Won't Fox prefer that?

 Re: Disney buying Fox?
Stocks can be worth more than cash.
Also, I heard a rumor that if Fox sells, the X-Men/Marvel rights they own would automatically revert back to Marvel studios?
